You need to setup your router to allow the Xbox Live data to pass through the firewall.

    • You can setup port forwarding on your router or set a Static IP Address for a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

    • What model is your Belkin Router?

Information on setting up port forwarding can be found at:

http://portforward.com/

If you want to go with a static setting this is what you need to do:

  • Login to the Router/Gateway by entering it's IP address in your web browser. (http://192.168.2.1)
  • On the left panel of the firmware page, under "Firewall," you should see a link "DMZ" for the Static IP configuration.
  • Your router should generate 25-50 Dynamic IP addresses for, choose a Static IP outside that range. (192.168.x.200)
  • Then go into your Xbox network configuration and set the IP address to the newly defined DMZ.
  • IP: 192.168.x.200 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (Primary DNS is the same as the gateway)

You should have no problem w/ comcast.
First make sure your computer can connect to the web with the same connection. If it does then you should be good to go. My guess is that you are not able to from your set up the way it is configured. Make sure your signal is split with a router. Your IP and DSN should set automatically from within the Xbox. Don't try to manually set up the IP address or the DNS.

Make sure you run your test setup though the Xbox and pay attention to what it says. Read the solutions that are offered for every fail test. Be patient. I am confident you can do this. But to repeat. Make sure you can log onto the web with a computer from the very same TCIP plug that you will use on the 360.

Xbox 360 live DNS test failed

if you are connecting directly to the modem, then you are going to need to get the dns info from your ISP. If you have a router just put the router address or let it find it automatically. Also check that the router has the right dns settings from the ISP.

CAN"T SIGN IN TO XBOX LIVE

You might not have been banned. Not being able to connect to the DNS or having it fail can be caused by a few things:
The DNS address serves couldn't be reached
The info on the DNS server couldn't be snagged from your ISP or the DHCP server
The DNS values in the dashboard are wrong.

I don't want to come off like I am insulting your intelligence, but check your internet connection to make sure you have the ability to connect. I'm sure it is all in proper order. So the next thing you need to do is check to see if you IP is set and passes all the tests. If it isn't then you can click the more link on the test page to follow the directions on how to fix it.

You may also want to check out if you are using a XBOX live compatible ISP. Click on Learn More to see if you are using the right ISP or to adjust your settings. You can also check out the connectivity wizard to find out if there are some other issues revolving around this.

Still running into problems!?!?!? try running the modem directly into your XBOX. This has helped me in a few time of need.

Connect it to your router with an ethernet cable.
Make sure the router is setup correctly to your modem, if you can connect all your devices by ethernet cable to the internet then it's set.
If you are using a wireless connection and if it asks for the WEP or WPA key, make sure that you are entering the correct encryption key. You may want to call your router manufacturer to know the correct key for the wireless connection. FYI, it will say that the wireless network is connected but it will still fail the IP Address.

If you have a wired connection and the IP Address or DNS failed, I suggest you to call your Internet Service Provider to check for the Internet connection and obtain these (static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary DNS server and secondary DNS server). If your Internet is okay, enter the IP settings manually on the console (System > Network Settings > Edit Settings > IP settings).

That should work.
