Ipod suffle damage

I have an ipod suffle it is telling me that the firmware is damaged and i need to restore the software, how do i do this?

Hello sir i have problem with ma iopd shuffle that it seems it has lost an firmware .. means firmware is damaged and have to restore the software... i tried to restore software from i-tunes but it seems and error like cant be able to solve ... and seems like 1415 something .. plz sir can u help me to solve it out ?..

My son's ipod nano will accept a charge but will not accept songs. I tried the same charger cord with mine and it works fine. is his internally damaged in some way?


Lets start with basic troubleshooting if it doesnt solve the problem then its most likely a hardware issue that requires service.

Reset
To reset your iPod nano:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Then

Retry your iPod nano with a different USB port on your computer, not a USB port on your keyboard or hub.


Then
Restart Restart your computer, and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.



Reinstall To reinstall your iPod nano:
  • To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest version of iTunes.
  • Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
  • Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab. iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.


And finaly restore

  • Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.
How to restore your iPod:

  • 2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
  • 3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes.

  • 7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.

When I plug up my ipod to the charging doc it blinks like yellow or green for like 10 seconds. In the manual it said this meant there was firmware damage. I hadn't had the ipod long so how can i fix this


All you have to do is to connect to your computer then wait for the itunes program to detect it.
Once detected, you can click on restore ipod and your ipod should be fine after the download and re-installation of the firmware.

My ipod ShowS only Summary option in ituneS


turn the hold off and hold the middle button and play for about 30 seconds and the apple logo will show up then plug it into itunes and hit the restore button on the ipod tab in itunes.

Hi,
I tunes is looking for a hard drive so that it can sync. Try downloading the iPod shuffle utility restore tool. It is just for iPods and it is free. After you download it and install it in your computer, start it, plug your iPod into the computer and it should restore it to factory specs. You may have to try it multiple times - just be patient. IPod Photo (30g) needs Firmware update


I beleave you should be able to use itunes to download the newest version and then restore (restore / upgrade) the ipod.

here are the instructions on how to perform a restore

Go to www.apple.com to reacquire manual - it does help - this is a db corruption, which requires firmware, which is one of the 5 R's

Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore
Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If
one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems.
