Have to **** in here; if VTVC has a vertical line, I believe it is the horizontal failure, not vertical. Probably a failed flyback or the driver for it (HOT).
Flybacks are getting pretty scarce, but since the lousy flat panel sets seem to be failing in a year or two, it might be worth the effort to repair the RCA and buy a converter box to go digital.

Lost all power in 1991 RCA TV model F35100ST

Best thing to start here is open up the TV and look for any blown components on the power board (which is the one that has the power cable attached to); check the transformer for continuity first, that is the first thing to blow. Then go on with capacitors, resisters, and any burnt wires.

All of these parts are easy to find and replace, they can be found in local electronics shops.

Please post back how it went and any further information or questions you may have, so we can help you better.

Good luck!

My 36 inch citizen tv is showing white horizontal lines in the top portion of the screen...any ideas?

Vertical output circuit - capacitor is usually bad. Easy job if you're a experienced at replacing electronic components. Shops usually charge around $80-$120.

My RCA F36648 36" TV has only the bottom half of my picture working. The top half has horizontal lines that distorte the picture. It looks like when you pull a rake through the sand the lines that are left...

You have vertical output problems. There is distortion at the top because of a faulty vert. output i.c. or a faulty electrolytic capacitor. It's possible there may be a problem at your yoke also.It needs a professional repair.

Tv does not turn on.

There is probably a short or a near short loading the power supply circuit, a leaky capacitor, shorting diode, transistor,IC,LOPT etc. Have the set checked by a technician near you.

It is still worth repairing!

RCA F36674ET - Only beeps when turned on

Clearly shows problem in deflection area both horizontal and vertical section. Horizontal lines is due to vertical section problem and making bbzzzz is due to horizontal output transistor short and sometimes LOT SHORT.
