Re: Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD Recorder- does not read discs
This unit has an optical-eye, not recording heads. opening the drawer then unplugging unit will expose the eye. never look into the eye when unit has power. this x-ray can and will burn your owh eyes lens&retina. good luck. clean with 90% isopropyl alcohol and q-tip. mch

hi....Download instruction manual of DMR-ES10 by clickiing this link http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES10.PDF. It is PDF file and can be open / print through adobe reader . for adobe reader, go to www.adobe.com.
For the unit to be confirmed if its o.k or not You have to take disc which is not very knew and slight scratches ,offcourse which is playing in your other dvd player.Play it on dmr-es 10 see if it plays normally,if it does than its lens is o.k.Other thing you can try is insert blanck disc and try formatting it,if it does than it s o.k.Try R+,R- AND RW+,RW-.iF This disc can be formatted on dmr es10 than the unit you can decide to purchase
does it record? We have noticed that these problem is occured by dirt on optical .First you have to clean optical lens .take cotton sworb and open the dvd-ram assy ,open top cover and claen leser. If problem still persist than only solution is to change dvd-ram drive thats optical assy.
