My iPhone 4 can't boot (Kernel panic). I replaced the dock cable because the iPhone didn't charge. Could this be a hardware problem?

Usually software but hardware failure can also cause it.

Outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device. If none of these work you will need to have it serviced.

If it was hardware, it's mostly unfixable and hopefully it's under warranty.

I doubt replacing the dock cable caused a kernal.

SOURCE: iPhone Freeze - Panic: We are hanging here

Hello!

try this simple steps to recover your iphone:

-- Turn off your iPhone by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about five seconds and then sliding the red slider.
-- If your iPhone is already off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again.
-- Once it's turned off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug the iPhone into your Mac or PC.
-- Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a yellow triangle and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes".
-- New iPhones will show a dock cable next to the iTunes icon.
-- You can now release the button.

-- Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode".
-- Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane. --
-- Click restore and you're done.

Depending on the extent of your iPhone's ills, it may take some time to do a full restore. Once you're done, however, you should again have a perfectly working iPhone.

SOURCE: Error 1604 and Kernel Panic

When this happened to me yesterday I tried all of the suggestions and more - many similar suggestions to do with itunes reinstalls, usb ports, the sim card and scripting (including on the Apple forums and support pages). None of it worked.

My issue was that the 'preparing to restore' phase of restoration became looped and eventually it crashed citing error 1604. However, there was a solution at: http://daggle.com/iphone-upgrade-fail-701 which did work for me.

For convenience:

1. Start the restore process (whatever way you can).

2. When it seems to be stuck in the loop (and possibly your iPhone just shows a blank screen) use CTRL+ALT+DEL and end task to kill the iTunes application.

3. Restart the restore process.

When i connect my i phone 4 to my h k dock i get a message saying this accsesory is not supported in charging

It sounds like you have the version which was built before the iPhone updated and changed its dock slightly. It's still the same wide dock but like a lot of stations the updates to iPhone's hardware left compatiability issues. Most importantly, it will still sound perfect.

My G3 phone is flashing the apple symbol while powering up but isn't powering up.

Thank for contacting Fixya, I will be glad to assist you.

What you can do, in order to resolve this issue, is start by resetting your iPhone 3G.
(Note: this does not remove any settings, data or media you have installed in your device)
• To perform a hard reset, press and hold your Sleep and Home Menu buttons for approximately 10 seconds.
• Once your screen goes black, release both keys. (If you see a white Apple logo before you release the keys you have held the keys to long and will need to start the reset process once again)
• The next screens you should see after the black screen, is the Apple logo screen followed by the main screen.

• This hard reset process should help bring your iPhone 3G back to normal functionality.

It would also be advisable to connect your iPhone 3G via its docking cable and provided wall socket adapter into a working wall socket in order to try and charge it.

If your iPhone 3G still does not charge, try connecting it with the docking cable to your computer or laptop to observe if it will take a charge then.

Should this process also not affect the way the iPhone charges, then you should look into using or purchasing another iPhone docking cable, as the cable itself may not be functional and needs to be replaced.

Docking cables for iPhones are fairly inexpensive (Under $20) and can be found in most electronics/computer stores that carry Apple products and accessories.
(Link: Apple Dock Connector)

Finally, if a replacement docking cable does not help the iPhone 3G charge, this may be a hardware issue and you would be advised to take the iPhone 3G in to your local Apple retail store or Apple Authorized Service Provider in your area.

I have a Sonic Integrity Tube Pod (Tube Pod) and need to know how to make it work with iphone 4. I can play the iphone 4 only through the earphone jack at this point. The iphone 4 however can sit on the...

It is normal to get incompatible devie message when you attach your iphone to dock because you don't use apple dock. I have 5 different brand portable speakers, charging docks. And all of them give same message when i attach my iphone 4 to dock. When you press "ok" on your iphone screen, it should start to play your songs. You don't need to use your iphone at airplane mode.

You may have problem with your iphone dock conncector cable pins. If audio related pins are damaged, you can not use any external iphone speakers with your iphone4. In order to test your sonic integrity tube pod; try another ipod or iphone on its dock. If it gives same result, you may need to change dock connector unit on sonic integrity tube pod due to damaged pins. If it works; iphone 4 dock connetor cable of your iphone 4 needs to be replaced.

Why my ibook cannot boot to desktop.but only stop at the grey apple display

What is happening is the mach kernel is hanging during bootup. This is likely caused by a kernel panic. Boot-time kernel panics are caused by the following things:
  1. A botched software update
  2. A badly behaving hardware device
  3. Flaky RAM memory.
  4. You are WAAAY too low on free disk space.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior

If you can make it this far, it is likely that your hard disk and the majority of your computer hardware are functioning correctly and your issue is software related.

I mac g4 kernel panic cant boot from CD to format . got kernel panic after security update. No Driver for this platform

This message indicates that the CD you are attempting to boot from is a release of the Mac OS which is incompatible with this model of Macintosh. I would recommend a retail disk of Tiger or Panther for this vintage Mac.

How do I charge my new iphone 16GB?

Your new iPhone comes with a USB cable and a wall charger in the box. If you don't have a computer, you can plug the wall charger to any socket in your house and connect your iPhone to the wall charger using the USB cable. However, if you have a computer, you can plug the USB cable to any USB slot from your computer and connect it to your iPhone.

You can also charge your device from any iPhone dock, or even those docks attached to your home theater system.
