Question about RIM BlackBerry? Curve 8330 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

My Blackberry will not respond to commands from the keys. The keys do not work .. even the trackball does not work. I can not answer the phone and I can not turn it off. This just started suddenly. I have taken the battery out and reloaded the software. Nothing seems to help.

My Blackberry Curve will not respond to any key. I have taken out the battery many times and rebooted the phone and when it comes up I can scroll around with the trackball, but the phone will not respond to anything else. I cannot place or answer a call or check messages, Once the screen goes to sleep, nothing works, not even the trackball. I can only take the battery out again and reboot, but it does not do any good. I have had the phone about 8 months now and it has done this several times since it was new, but in the past it would work properly after a couple of reboots, but it has gradually started happening more often and now nothing seems to fix it.

try a firmware restore, a guide on how to do that ishere: Blackberry Firmare restore. If that fails it looks like you need to clean the logic board from any waterdamage that might have occured which in theory you can do yourself. Here's a guide on how to disassemble a blackberry. Just clean out any residue you may find from water. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to have somebody else do it for you there are third party Blackberry Repair Services.

If you have a warranty on the phone than you should bring it in right away, if not than consider finding a replacement. this happened to my phone and it was deemed beyond economical repair due to liquid damage.

Blackberries really takes time to load specially on a reboot mode...i suggest to remove the lock of your trackball and clean it with a denatured alcohol specially the trackball underneath then place it back... that will solve your problem ..if everything elsa fails then have it replace

My trackball isnt not responding when i selected something

Okay for future references do not bring your phone into the bathroom :) because this can cause water damage to the phone due to the humidity in there. Anyways there is something you can do remove the trackball to find out how click here after its removed you can check for water damage or any water that has collected there if you do find water damage or just water turn your phone off! Next after that I would leave the phone in a dry place to let the water evaporate do not stick "kleenex" or paper towel in there because u can get peices stuck in there and can cause problems for the trackball later on if you really want to stick something down there to soak up the water use cloth that has no chance of getting stuck and leaving something behind so after that reassemble your trackball with the ring and remember dont force it or you could break the ring and it should work if not just post back and I'll be happy to help you again.

Cheers,
Kyle

if nothing is working, then you need to go to your carrier and either get it fixed or they might replace it... dont tell them its water damage though.

this isn't a solution. i am having the EXACT same problem. nothing is working. it shuts off for no reason. i didn't touch anything. and it keeps typing "25252525252525252525525" or "ededededededededed" by itself, even though i didn't have any water damage. i cannot click the trackball either but it moves. and i have restarted it so many times, but it still won't work. i also need help.

Multiple Blackberry problems on the same phone! Please help!

I think the easiest way to resolve as many of these issues is by resetting your blackberry.

Hold down ALT+RIGHT SHIFT(CAP)+DELETE keys - I'm not 100% sure this works on your model but it is soft reset.

Go into Options, then select Security Options, then select General Settings, then activate the BlackBerry menu and select the option to wipe the device - Will reset all your personalised settings to default

Trackball Is Brocken!

Good evening!
Trackballs are VERY easy to replace! You can take it to your cell phone provider but there is a good chance they will claim the phone is broken.
I would recommend searching on Amazon.com, Ebay, or just googling Blackberry Trackball replacement. They are inexpensive, range from $2 to $10 depending where you look and the quality of the trackball.
I personally have replaced my Blackberry's trackball with a new one off of Amazon. It is very easy to replace. You just need to be careful with handling the trackball due to they are very fragile.
Here is a bunch of replacements you can look into on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=blackberry+trackball&x=0&y=0

Youtube even has a few videos on replacing the trackball.
Glad to help you out and good luck with your Blackberry!

Bought used sim card for Blackberry rim 7520

the phone number should be retrieved from the sim card or carrier login procedure.

I had a few blackberry's, including a 75xx series one, and when I popped in another card (I have a couple of prepaid subscriptions for testing), the number always came up automatically.

Should work... If not, try contacting RIM/Blackberry support, but I doubt they'll still give support for the 7xxx series models... sorry

Buttons on the curve not responding.

Im seriously upset for no reason I am getting the same problem. Out of nowhere all my buttons don't work but my trackball scrolls. When I put the battery out and in it takes me to the menu where I can scroll until it fades away but I can't select anything. Menu also appears when I plug in the charger but soon to fade away. None of the buttons work including the voice command or volume etc. My phone was never wet I take very good care of it and the little sticker behind the battery is white. It happened one time earlier this week and I was able to resolve it by removing the battery and rebooting it several times. Now I am stuck in the middle of nowhere at an oil rig with no cell phone. I will be sure to tell my service provider how upset I am about this and I'm not sure I will be getting another Blackberry at all after this kind of **** happens. My RAZR worked great for years not a single issue.
