Sorry, I was trying to select all four diamonds. Originally I was looking for an easy solution, like an option somewhere, apparently this is asking too much. So I tried the half **** and it will help a lot so thanks. Is it because I am an older, 64,

person that I feel the instructions stink? Thanks again, Conrad

Be sure you are on auto. Pressing the shutter release down half way causes the camera to focus. This needs to happen to get a clear picture. Be sure you have adequite light or the auto focus will not work. You might need to set your flash to auto as well . Them by pressing the shutter release the rest of the way down, you will get a picture. But gain, you need to allow it to focus first, then take the photo.

Is it possible you have the self timer ON?
Look for a small clock symbol in the top middle of the view screen or electronic viewfinder. If it is on then hit the down arrow on the 4 direction button until it goes off. There are two self timer settings, 10 seconds and 2 seconds, and off means shoot immediately.

Press cursor-down (marked with a one-handed clock) to cycle through the self-timer settings. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual. I often miss a shot because there seems to be a delay when I press the shutter button on my Fuji FinePix A350 digital camera. Is there a setting I can change to speed up the process?

It's called "shutter lag"...a common problem with all point and shoot cameras. To avoid it, press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) before pressing the rest of the way.

There is a grid of lines in my lcd screen

Is this a problem? The framing grid is there to assist you in lining things up, getting the horizon level, etc.

If you don't want it, press the DISP/BACK button repeatedly until you get the view you want.

You need to press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus before you press the rest of the way. This eliminates "shutter lag".

Fujifilm FinePix S1000FD shutter button won't focus

There is an option in the menu to put camera on continuous auto focus. You must have the camera on manual setting to have this option available, but once selected, it should stay on in auto setting. It will wear the battery faster, but it should solve the issue you are having. Hope this helps!!!
