You must replace all ink carts with GENUINE HP carts to get a sucessful alignment.
SOURCE: where to purchase HP Officejet
You can either go to the retailer, from whom you purchased the Printer OR go to web site of HP printers support section and find out retailers near your home and ask them to supply you. Lastly you can order on line from amazon.com, e-bay or best buy or circuit city or any of the other computer stores in your area.

I actually have an Officejet 7680 and after a year, it developed the same problem, i.e. with a brand new black cartridge and several cleanings of the Printheads, it won't print black, though color is fine. I first had this problem in the fall of 2008, then it seemed to cure itself, and now, in late March of 2008, the exact same problem has come back but is more persistent, and I'm about to give up!
AND I had this same problem with a 7310 before this current printer and I could never solve it. I even replaced the Printheads and it STILL had the same problem. HP offered NO help whatsoever.
I have the same problem. hp7310 all-in-one. I have replaced the black ink cartridge and still no black ink. Color is just fine. I've tried cleaning them out. The alignment procedure failed, so I am wondering if this has anything to do with it.
