Question about Dell Latitude C610 Notebook

Screen went black

I was working in a dos program and the screen went black. Now the machine flashes 3 lights at the top of the keyboard and 2 lights to the right of the keyboard and then goes back black when I try to power it up. It does not sound like the harddrive ever engages or operates at all. The lights are green if that matters. The location of the harddrive would be a helpfull.

Take the battery out and unplug the machine from the power.
After a few minutes reinstall the battery and plug it back in.

    Does this help?

Try reseating the memory one stick at a time in each slot at a time first before you do anything else and see if you get video back.

How to flash bios

A blacked-out screen doesn't necessarily indicate a broken monitor.
If the computer has run out of charge or is in hibernation or sleep mode,
if the screen is too dark, or if the display cable has come disconnected from the motherboard, the screen may appear black or fail to turn on. To fix a blacked-out laptop screen, troubleshoot the screen settings, check the LCD connector and see if the computer is awake and receiving power.
Touch the touchpad or move the external mouse to see if the computer is asleep or hibernating. If the computer fails to respond, press "Enter" on the keyboard. Press the power button if the screen remains black.

Confirm that the power indicator light, found at the front of the computer or above the keyboard, is glowing solid green or blue. Confirm that the power adapter is plugged into the computer and into a wall outlet. Confirm that battery indicator light is glowing solid green or blue. Hold down the "Fn" key. Press the up-arrow to see if the screen brightness increases.
Some computers also use the "F6" or "F7" keys to increase screen brightness.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the laptop.
Remove the AC adapter from the computer, close the screen, and then turn the PC over.
Slide the battery latch to eject the battery. Pull the battery out of its compartment. Turn the computer back over, open the lid, and insert the edge of a flathead screwdriver or other flat, solid object beneath the bezel above the keyboard. Wedge the edge of the keyboard bezel off of the top cover.
Work your way along the edge of the keyboard bezel to loosen it.
Pull the bezel off the laptop.
Trace the cable coming from the laptop screen to the connector found beneath the bezel. Reconnect the display cable to the motherboard if the cable has come loose from the connector. Line up the tabs on the bezel with the slots along the top of the keyboard. Insert the right edge of the bezel into the gap above the keyboard, and then push the bezel back in place. Turn the computer back on. If the laptop screen is still blacked out, connect an external monitor to the video port on the side of the PC to confirm that the video card isn't defective. If the external monitor works, the LCD screen could be broken. If the monitor doesn't work, the motherboard or video card might need to be replaced.

Download the appropriate BIOS update and flashing utility for your motherboard from the motherboard manufacturer's website. Most manufacturer websites keep the files under a section labeled "Support." The files will likely come in a ZIP archive, so you will need to extract the files to your desktop. Copy the flashing utility and BIOS file to the DOS boot floppy. If your computer does not have a built-in floppy drive, you will need to connect a USB-type floppy drive first by plugging it into a free USB port. Rename the new BIOS image "newbios.bin" to make remembering it easy. Reboot the computer with the boot floppy in the floppy drive. Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Select safe mode with command prompt When the boot process is done, you will be at the "A:\" prompt. At the "A:\" prompt, run the flashing utility. For example, if the flashing utility is named "awdflash.exe," then you would type in "awdflash" and press "Enter." The flashing utility will likely have a simple graphic menu system with a list of the commands and what they do. Save an image of the existing BIOS to a file called "oldbios.bin." Once the backup is complete, point the flashing utility at the new BIOS image and start the update process. Remove the DOS floppy and reboot the computer when the update is complete.

My Acer AL2216W monitor this morning went blank. I woke up, turned on pc and went to sleep like an hour more, when I woke up, the screen was black and light orange, as usual, when pc is not used for a...

Go to Control Panel, (top right View Small Icons). Then look for Power Options. On this page, you'll have the option to leave the monitor on. You should also check "Advanced Power Options". Don't be afraid of the word, "Advanced." It only means "customizeable"

If your mouse isn't waking your monitor, try the keyboard's space bar. I found it works better than the mouse at waking a sleeping computer

Cannot turn off flashing lights on buttons to start espresso

The keypad needs to be programed. Depending on your model there will be a small toggle switch on the right side, just behind the connection of the hot water valve(you will have to remove the top panel). Move the switch to the left, then press the program button at which time all the lights will be lit. Using a measuring cup press a button you want to program until you get the desired amount, then press the stop button(when programed the light will turn off), repeat to program the other 3 buttons. When done program move the toggle switch to the right. If the machine does not hold the program then the flowmeter under the drain tray(silver box with 3 wires on top), is damaged. Either repalce the top or check the impeller in the flowmeter, the magnets might dirty.(Make sure water is turned off before openning the flowmeter.

Water spillage on laptop, is it repairable ?

I would take it apart and see how far the coke got into the system but the crackling means it got in far enough... remember it's not about time it's about contact because a milisecond is to much time! I would take the hard drive out and test it with another laptop and hope it's not damaged and see if you're under warranty if not laptops are around 400 now so be thankful and remember around pc's cups with lids.
