Remote sensor board rca tv model p52928

Disconnect the board if you have a real working remote, set will work via the remote without that board---remote sensor is behind screen and above the board.

Remote sensor location

Remote receiver is located on tiny PC board at the top and just in front of the middle of the three picture tubes---board is about 3/4 inch wide and maybe 2 inches long----pretty standard IR unit.

Look from back with back cover removed and it is in front of the middle lens there.

Picture is warped. rca 52 inch model p52929

This is hte beginning of a convergence problem. If you can solder, try resoldering the pins on the convergence ICs. These are large black ICs attached to a heat sink and will be marked STKxxx. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the ICs.

Keep us posted.

Tv is acting on its own

Most likely your problem is the remote sensor inside the TV set. The remote sensor is located on the front panel board or inside the reflective cavity somewhere around the secondary mirror. Good Luck

Remote not working with P50830BL

Yes it certainly could be a problem with the remote sensor assy., as I have had bad ones from rca in the past, But mostly its been bad connections from board to board or a jumper or even a few times the Microprocessor IC was bad. The best and only way I know to trouble shoot this, without shotgunning part after part and may get lucky, is to scope out the data line comming out of the sensor while hitting a function on the remote. If theres no data comming out then check the b+ going to the sensor also. Trace the signal all the way to the processor. If signal does make it all the way there , then of course the processor is the problem. Now theres High voltage inside these sets, so its not advisable for a handi-persomn to fix this set themselfs. There really are no user serviceable parts inside these sets as they are all soldered in and you need speacial equipment to properly work on most if not all sets these days. I would say a fair repair cost for a problem like this I would estimate at from200 to 350 depending on the exact problem. Good Luck

Remote sensor in the TV

First Inspect the remote batteries. also make sure TV is not on a LOCK ON option... now, the sensor is a small smoothly part near the TV front buttons, you can clean it carefully FYI, exposing unit remote sensor to direct fluorescent or outdoor light may cause signal interference.
