Need replacement cd drive and casette drive for a philips az2045/17 or a used working replacement unit

At one time you could get a whole refurbished unit for $60. That pretty much makes yours not economically repairable, assuming the parts are all you need and the labor is free.

I'd look around on eBay for a similar replacement.

Where can I buy a power cord?

Look on the back - the connector is either a 'figure 8' connector with 2 circular type connections, or one side is round and the other is shaped like the letter "D". Either are available at Radio Shack.

Need replacemet antenna

Most boomboxes use Screw on antennas (either the antenna itself is threaded or has one screw in a plate at the base). You can buy a replacement at Radioshack for about $5.

CD player on boombox

The laser is dead or damaged. Try swabbing the laser with rubbing alcohol on a Q-Tip, then IMMEDIATELY blowing dry with canned air. If this fails, the laser is dead. If it is a Sony KSS-2xx series laser (try to peek in the laser slot to see the decal on it) you can get replacements online. If not, it's junk.

The cassette spindles do not turn at all

Check for broken or stretched rubber drive belts. Age is as bad an enemy as wear. If it has been sitting for a period of months they go bad faster. Even if you keep it indoors out of the heat, the A/C will dry out the oil the belts and they wil lose their elastisity. There are usuallyonly about 3 or 4 belts in the cassette player at most and they cost less than a dollar each. If you can find the belts, buy extras and keep the extras in a zip lock bag. Parts are harder to find as time goes on and most manufacturers will deliverately quit selling normal wear items like belts after a few years to force you to buy a new product.

Boombox CD player

Hi Could be bad spin motor, but the first thing to try is load the cd and put your ear to the unit and listen for a ticking sound...if there is, then the laser is trying to focus. If not ticking, there is likely a serious problem, and the whole unit should be replaced. If you hear the lense bouncing up and down, then it is likely a dirty lense or bad laser. To clean it, use a cotton swab and wet the end with at least 70% USP rubbing alchohol(99% better). Touch the swab to the lense and a drop should form on the lense, gently move the drop around to loosen any debris, and then use a dry swab and touch it to the lense to absorb the drop. Try the unit, and if it was dirt on the lense, it should work, if not the boombox should probably be replaced. Good Luck!
