Highlight is just the info mode, there are several info modes including Basic file info, Shooting Info and RGB histogram, just press the round controller in the up or down direction to change between them in playback mode. Highlight will flash black anywhere there is pure white in an image.
Try resetting the camera by pressing the 2 buttons with green dots (on top of the camera near the shutter release) holding them for a few seconds.

Nikon d80 reset button

On the top right side of the D-80 are two buttons marked with a green dot. They are the "AF" button and the "+/-" button. Press these two buttons at the same time and hold them down for several seconds. This will reset all resettable functions to the factory default settings.

My nikon d80 is taking green pictures, what is wrong with it and how do i fix it?

Hi,

You may try resetting your camera to default settings. It's white balance might have been tweaked for custom settings. Find the two buttons with green dots next to them on the top right of D80. They are the +/-* and AF* buttons. Hold them both down for a few seconds. The top LCD blinks and everything is back to factory settings. If problem persists, you may contact Nikon for further troubleshooting and repair.

I hope this works for you. Kindly reply for further assistance. Good Luck!

To view the pics on a D80, you do not click on the Menu button. Instead, you should click on the green button with a triangle shape pointing to the right. That is how you can review your pics.

To move between pics after clicking the button, press the left/right button or move your main dial clockwise/counter-clockwise

To close your preview session, just click on the same button with the triangle.
