Question about Samsung Projection Televisions

I have a Samsung 56'' DLP with occasional fuzzy picture problems

I have a Samsung 56'' DLP HLR5678WX TV. It has been working really well since I brought it new in 2006. Recently I have noticed that the picture color will fade slightly and the picture seems to be slightly fuzzy/stretchy with a hint of red in the picture. Turning off the TV for a few minutes usually fixes it, othertimes it will correct itself while the TV is on. What could cause this?

Is the TV on its way out?

TIA
Thanks

Some more details: Restarting the TV no longer fixes the problem. Sometimes you will see a red wave on the screen that moves with the picture. I have some pictures but I'm not sure how to upload here. The problem is intermittant, sometimes it will run fine for a few hours, then it comes back. Thought it might be heat related but doubt it as the room temp has bearly been over 70 degrees last few weeks.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I would like to clarify a few things to make sure I am on the right track before shelling out for a new color wheel....You can some samples pictures of the issue I have via http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/s...

Notice how on there the 'red' is across the whole screen. Sometimes it will appear just aound the faces within the picture, and like I mentioned other times its just fine. Lately it's been worse. I took it to a local repair shop, but tells me he wasnt able to see the problem even after having it run for 4 or 5 days. I brought it home, it ran okay for about 5 hours, then the problem reappeared.

Still sound like colorwheel? How can I find the exact part for my TV unit?

    Thanks.

    Amit

Hi..Check that all your input cables are tightly plugged
in at both ends. If that's not the problem, unplug the tv
for a few minutes and replug and see if the reboot helps.
Otherwise it might be a board going out in the tv.
check ot out..
thank u..

It sound like you have a power supply fault caused by a display failure.
Without a service manual and test gear, I don't think there is much likelyhood of an effective repair.
Contact Samsung for a dealer in your area is my advice.
Hope that helps.
