Black screen, unable to make it operate

When booting up my laptop, I have a black screen and I cannot do anything to open up Windows. I recently purchased a new battery but it did not correct the problem. I keep getting a message about power problems.

The BIOS flash was ok, or you never would have seen windows boot up.
This is not a driver problem.. Are the lights staying on when it's plugged in, if not it's a bad charger and the battery is to low or dead. Have you tried to boot into safe mode, tapping F8. There is a video connector, plug in a monitor, borrow one if you can, if it works and the OS boots and windows run's, the screen is bad.

My Acer laptop will not boot up.

You may have a corrupted video driver due to an update. For some Acers, press and hold F10 when starting the computer. Two beeps will mean that the bios settings have been restored and the machine may boot correctly. If you can enter the BIOS via F2, F1, F10, ESC or DEL, then find the area for display and change it to low resolution then save and restart your computer. Once running, you will need to uninstall the current video driver and have the computer install a new one.

My hp g61 will only display a blank/black screen with the cursor after it has finish booting

That cursor is the way in which the BIOS of the laptop is telling you that Windows is completely corrupted and unbootable. You will need to reinstall it so use the recovery cd that came with the laptop.

My brand new samsung netbook wont boot, it just appears with a black screens saying windows cannot boot because it cant communicate with a device that was connected?

Do you have a USB drive hooked up? some systems will not boot up with the driver left in, if that is not the case, have you added anything to your computer recently when the trouble started? such as USB DVD driver or download, or was this a problem when you first bought it? if the answer is yes! the item should be returned for exchange.

When I try to boot up windows Vista I get black screen

Looks like its an infection to me.
When you get to the black screen and you are able to move the mouse, try this:
Press Ctr+Alt+Del, a message will pop up.
Select Task Manager
A Task Manager window appears.
Click on File and choose New task (run)
Type: explorer.exe
Press the enter key.
You should be able to see your desktop again.

Once there, use a combination of antivirus, spyware, troyan horses solution of your preference to get rid of it.
