Question about Office Shredders
I had the same problem with the OfficeMax OM99732 and it turned out to be a blown fuse on the circuit board. The thing jammed then died. The fuse is soldered into the circuit board so if you do not know how to solder you need to find someone who does and will do it at a reasonable price. The fuse is on one of the corners of the circuit board. I went to the local radio shack and got five 3 amp fuses and an in line fuse holder for a total of 6 dollars, and installed them. Now when it overloads again I will just have to slip in one of the other fuses no soldering. There was also a cold solder joint (a poorly done solder joint) on a lead to the switch, which senses if the shredder is on its base. The lead pulled lose when I removed the cover. It was easy to re-solder but not the cause of the original problem just a sign of cheap construction.

If you are brave enough to open up the shredder then unplug the power cord to remove power. then remove the cover. i dont know office max machine configuration but you have blades for shredding paper and off to the side you will have the motor and a chain or a gear system connecting to the blades try to rotate the chain or gears to see if the cutters will turn. one normal problem is gearsbreak or strip teeth motors rarely go out good luck
