Find the driver for this

Hi there. As I checked the toshiba & newegg website, I can confirm that the portable hard drive is not available anymore.

Okay, back to the driver and compatibility issues, the driver is located on the hard drive itself. From rom what I know the hard drive come with NTFS driver for Mac and PC. So I think you can swap the drive and use it on another computer.

Iomega eGo hard drive lite flashes not seen by comp.

There's a chance you got installed the less updated drivers for your Operating System (Windows, Mac OS ie)

You can find recent drivers at the following link.
https://lenovo-na-en.custhelp.com/app/home

If this won't help, the problem might be located at hardware-level. In such case it's wise to check the warranty for this external HDD.

My 2gb usb thumb drive is "not recognized" I am using a Mac and looks like I may need a new driver. Where can I locate this??

With thumb drives, you usually do not need a new driver. Try this:

1. Open Finder
2. Applications 3. On the left column, you should see your thumb drive. Click on it.
4. Click on the "Erase" tab near the top
5. For "Format:" select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"
6. Click on the "Erase..." button

I have my smartdisk modified to a pc...and when i try to download things off of a mac it won't let me. How do i switch between modifying to a pc and modifying to a mac

The problem is that your smartdisk drive operates using the NTFS (New Technology File System) under USB which is the standard file system of Windows. Apple mac is not interopable with native NTFS therefore you need to install a read-write NTFS file-system driver on your mac if you wish to use it via the USB connection.

An excellent free mac NTFS driver can be found here-
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/NTFS-3G.shtml

Download and install the software then restart your mac.

Looking for the Mac driver for a 500gb

A ahhhh Mac driver? A mac should just pick up the fact that you plug in an external drive. It might even detect if it's formatted Windows NTFS. You probably have to format it for Mac OS.

I called apple about this and they said there is no mac driver, that a mac should read a seagate external hard drive without any driver. My file system was ntfs.

Computer will not locate external hard drive

Right click on your "my computer" icon in XP, or the word "Computer" on Vista/7, go to manage. On the window that opens up go to storage>disk management. Is it showing up in that list?

If you are using a Mac, go to your utilities folder and run system profiler. Does your drive show up under the usb devices tree?

If its linux, which distro are you using?

Does the drive work on any other computer? If not, I would suspect a bad drive, or a bad enclosure, or just an un-initialized drive, which can be fixed in windows by right clicking on the drive in that list and clicking intialize. In mac run the Disk Utility from the utilities folder and click the drive and select format.

In the future, pls specify your OS. thanks!

RE: 2GB Kingston on MAC OS X

The drivers are needed only for windows 98 and back. Xp, mac all do not need drivers for the thumb drives.

May be something else is wrong... mostly software related.
