HLP4663wx/xaa Fan or Color wheel making noise? I first noticed it within the last week making noise when turning the set off. Now it's continuous. Could hear it slowing down on power off, constant...

A fan like noise is 98% of the time the color wheel.

Wheel turns at over 12,000 rpm and common failure is "fan like sound or even grinding sound".

When these sets first came out if the high pitched sound started women who have better hearing in that range usually hear it first.

If wheel really fails it will shatter and set will not come on----a grinding sound may be noticed just before total failure.

FAN NOISE?

sounds like the unit is running hot, making the fan run constantly....there is most likely something else involved..you have a warranty on this unit?

The tv makes a noise like a fan hitting something but both fans are ok, it appears to be an issue with the rotating mirror assy. what is that assy. called

I will try to help but need more information--is this a Samsung or what?

Brand and model number please

If you have a DLP type set and hear a loud fan like noise that is not a fan it is in some sets a color wheel.

If I know Brand and model number I can tell you what is needed to fix the problem.

Hi, we have a humming sound that is really loud,

Yes, its fan noise and you need to replace noisy fan.
Let me know exact model of your Sony TV and need to know what fan is producing noise to provide you part number and parts shop info to buy that fan.

I have a 55 inch Hitachi HDTV it is around 3 years old. as of yesterday it was working fine and today it will not turn on. when i press power button i get a buzzing noise and it sounds like it wants to...

If you hear the Lamp fan turn, it is probably the lamp it self that has failed. If you do not hear the lamp fan turn then the fan could be bad or binding.
Hope this helps,

Samsung DLP TV is making a buzzing sound. Sounds like something spinning. Can hear it speed up to full spend when turned on and slow down and stop when powering off the TV. Loud at times.

More than likely this is the cooling fan. I have a Samsung DLP myself, and at times, I can hear the fan running also. There could be something wrong with the fan, but I kind of doubt it. Just make sure that the TV is in a spot with lots of ventilation....otherwise, you might have to live with this noise.

Hope this helps!!

Samsung HLP4663W 46 in. fan noise

you may have several problems but the one I know for sure is the fan noise you hear is not the fan but the color wheel, the barring is screeching. you may need a lamp as well. if you are not a tech DONOT ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR leave this to the pros.

Toshiba DLP fan noise (52hmx95)

i constantly hear complaints about fan noise in dlptvs if you sit in front of your computer you will hear the same noise even in the next room there is no solution to the fan noise problem this product has a huge cage fan and a second and third three inch fans in it.... more than the samsung product it can be noticeable if the tv is on hard surfaces ie wood floors ,inthe corner, glass top etc the vents on the back of the tv allow for proper cooling of the lamp at shutoff so it doesnt shatter the tube its kinda like annealing glass its designed to extend the life of the lamp .... which im sure youve priced call toshiba and tell them your lamp is bad right now and get a new one for an emergency ( warranty if you can do it ) they are also improved this product is known to have short bulb life sometimes the zinging noise you hear is indicative of a bad color wheel in the light engine which would require replacement ( not cheap) toshiba will not piece out the color wheel assembly individually
