Zenith Converter box ptt 901. I did as instructed, disconnecting and reconnecting after a half hour, and nothing. The box is on but it is not sending signals to the set - just a blank screen.

To start ensure that the problem is not a lose cable at the back of the TV or of the Box, check all cables and connection.

If that is not the problem, the solution depends on what cable you use to connect the box to the tv.

If you use a coax antenna cable, you may need to do a channel auto tune search to find the frequency from the obx. Do this only if you use coax connection.

On any other cable, switch the box channel, to ensure you are not on a blank channel, and use the tv remote source, or input button untill you do not find the picture for the box channels.

If that does not work, then it is probably a cable and connection problem.

The DT250 likely has one or more bad 470uf 25v capacitors. You should replace all four. Look at some of these youtube videos for how do do the replacement.

Order 4 new 470uf 25v capacitors from digikey.com P/N P10274-ND

Use first class mail as your shipping method. Will be under 10 dollars total.

Thats because converter remote will not work on your TV it will only control the converter box, TV has different Ir senser. You can buy A remote to operate both units Dollar Store has them for $6.00 and Mats Electronics has them for 3.95 and up.1-800-628-1118

I'll try to respond to the questions in order;

1) This unit requires a converter. It only has an NTSC tuner not ATSC.
2) The remote will not control the converter as the coverter is too new.

Your best bet for having a songle control for all devices is to purchase a universal remote that will control the converter. I am not aware of one, but must admit that I have not really looked much. To control the number of devices you would like, the control will likely cost in the $10-$15 range.

Is my Hitachi 61uwx10b ultravision hd ready digital tv ready when they switch over to digital vrodacasting or will i need a converter box,

This TV will need a converter box. It was made in the days before the digital tuner was required on big TV sets.

Just remember the converter is only needed if you get off-the-air reception with an antenna for local channels. If you have cable or satellite and get your local channels that way, you don't have to do anything. The change to digital will not affect you.

If you are now using rabbit ears or an old worn-out outside antenna, you might think about upgrading your antenna when you get a converter box. Signal strength is very important with the new digital broadcasting. Too weak a signal means no picture at all or one that freezes up or turns blocky. The antenna that worked for analog may not be adequate for digital.

How to install a converter box on the tv

First Converter boxes are a poor economic investment.
Second you have an HDTV. It does not need a Converter box.
Just connect an amplified antenna.

Specs:

Built-in ATSC QAM Tuners - QAM and ATSC tuners included to enable the set to receive Digital cable-in-the-clear signals, as well as digital terrestrial broadcasts. HDTV reception is possible by adding an Optional HDTV antenna

After installing the DTV converter box, reception was dropped for most of the stations i received pre-box. now i have added a new antenna. and, i can't get anything through the converter box. connections...

If you have the box connected to the TV using an RF cable to the TV's antenna input, make sure the TV is on channel 3. You should at least see the boxes menu display when the power is on. Try channel 4 if you see nothing on 3. Every box I've hooked up has been on channel 3 by default, but who knows?

If you can, hook the box to the TV using direct video and audio connections, and make sure the TV is set to the correct input.

Unless the box you bought has "RF pass-through" (and if you got your box using a government coupon, it's a sure bet it doesn't) you will notice a marked drop in quality if you try to watch regular broadcasting with the box connected. I've been installing these with a bypass arrangement so people can still watch their analog broadcasts until they go off the air in February.

If the box does in fact have no display when you turn it on and your TV is on the correct channel, your box is defective and should be returned and replaced.

The short version: Will a 14-year-old TV work with digital-to-analog TV converter? Specifically, I have RCA Model G25342AT, built in Sept., 1994. In case yes, converter should work... Trying to connect...

The converter box should work. Getting the remote to work with the TV might be a challenge. You might have to stick with two remotes. It used to be in the old days you could plug your tv power into the remote that way you would turn the tv on with the tuner remote but I be they stop doing that.

There is website that will let you check the digital televison signals for your area. This site should help you:
