Question about Televison & Video

My toshiba model 42h82 has lost the color slowly (over 4 hours) now the screen is a light green/yellow I have tryed the menu button and all of the icons come on the screen in color the way they should. is this a bulb problem sense this tv is 7 years our? any help is appreciated.

Check the bulb .

Also check the power supply is proper .

Check for any burned fuse in power supply board .

Turn off the tv for 1 hr and try again.

Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:


  • Screen Looks 3D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted
  • No Audio/Video - TV makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms

  • Dull looking video
  • White looking video
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking video

With the set on press MUTE on the remote.

Then press and HOLD mute for several seconds and while still holding it on the remote press Menu on the front of the set.

A (S) should appear in the upper right corner of the screen. (It means you are in the Service mode)

Press menu again on the front of the set

7 on the remote will call up the convergence grid

3 on the remote will change the color to adjust from red to green to blue(do not adjust GREEN)


You navigate the grid with 2, 4, 6, and 8 buttons.

To stop the cursor from blinking so you can adjust at any point use the 5 button—to move again use the 5 button.


When you finish you exit by hitting 7 on the remote again.


Sometimes you have to try a few times to get into the menu—I have had my problems but once in it is easy.


if adjusting does not cure the problem one of the convergence chips this set uses and or a resistor are bad.

Here is something that may help from the toshiba.com website under your model number television. Q. Why are people on my screen green?

If the problem is not the connections, try adjusting the tint on your television. A high tint setting will usually create a green
image on the screen where as a low tint will create a more red hue. In order to access your television's tint:
1. Press the “MENU” button on your remote control and use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys and select the
VIDEO menu.
2. Then use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight PICTURE SETTINGS and press the "ENTER" button on
your remote.
3. Next use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight TINT then use the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys to adjust the
TINT. If the picture is too green the tint will need to be lowered.
4. Once you have adjusted the tint to your liking, use the DOWN arrow key to highlight DONE and press ENTER. The toshiba customer service telephone number is : 1-800-631-3811. I hope this helps you with your problem.

Toshiba TP50G50 Theaterview picture is double with red color only


Your alignment is off. Go to the set up menu then convergence. hit right and you will be in the convergence menu. select the color that is not in alignment. The green line does not move. if blue and green are lined up the line will be cyan. if red and green are lined up the line will be yellow. when all three are lined up the color will be light. TV was working earlier, today came home no green power light no nothing


I looked up the manual online - after you replace the bulb, you need to reset the bulb life timer. Using the TV remote push the menu button, SETUP menu, select the lamp reminder option to reset the hours to zero. That might help the status indicators.

Yellow hue


1)Please verify your model # from back of set......

2)Reduce the color to minimum or tune in a black & white chan.
you should see gray, not yellow hue

3)Remove lower front grill cover & access panel.....locate the
focus / screen control block...turn blue screen control slightly
CW......red,green and blue must mix to equal gray

4) reset color to normal level.......reassemble
