Connect to the router with an ethernet cable, do not connect wirelessly.

At that point, open up a command prompt window and type in "IPCONFIG" and hit enter. It will tell you a bunch of things, one of which is what the "Default Gateway" IP is. That IP is the one for your router.

Here is a site for your new firmware version:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/262/~/dg834(v1-%26-v2),-dg834g-(v1-%26-v2)-firmware-version-2.10.22

Here is a site for your product:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2324

Maybe you have to reset it to factory settings.
There is a button next to the power inlet prees it with a pen.
Here is how you acces the router again:

  • IP address: 192.168.0.1 type this in your browser
  • Username: admin
  • Password: password (Sky-branded units have a default password of sky)
  • Function set to Router + Modem
To access the Setup Wizard installation and configuration program on your router:
  1. Connect your router to a computer by plugging one end of an Ethernet Cable into any of the four LAN ports on the back of your router.
  2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
  3. To install your router, simply click on the "Setup Wizard" link at the top of the left-hand navigation menu once you are logged into your router.
A video walk-through of installing and configuring your router using the Smart Wizard is available at http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12873.

Hope this was helpfull.

Remote Access

IF you are getting public ip from your isp, please go to administrator tab of the router and first change the router's password which is on the top on same page in black dots,,type your new password by deleting old one and re-confirm it just below and save it..router will prompt for the new password just to let you know settings are saved now enable remote managment option on the same page and port is 8080(default, you can use your own port number) and save setting..now you are ready to access your router remotely for that note down the public ip you are getting on your router's status page and in remote location you need to type something like :- http://x.x.x.x:8080...x.x.x.x is your internet ip (public) and 8080 is port number for remote management.

For host applications need to know which application you are running according to that need to open port in the router using Port Forwarding feature of the router.

How do I put a password on my Belkin wireless G plus mimo router?

it depends on what you specifically want to password-protect: a. protecting the network from unauthorized users? b. protecting the network's admin interface?
for a. - log into your network's admin interface (usually http://192.168.0.1) - go to the category of wireless security - select the type of network protection you are looking for (strength - i.e. wep, wap, wpa2) and set your password following the steps listed within your router's admin interface...
for b. - log into your network's admin interface (usually http://192.168.0.1) - if you have never done this before, then your username should be filled in as Admin and leave password blank and hit enter.... from there, you are able to change or at least add a password to the interface from unauthorized access (usually under category security)

I dont know crouter configuration

Hai,

Look at your computer's IP configuration. Go to Network and Dial-up Connections, RIGHT CLICK on your network and pick PROPERTIES. Click on the Internet TCP/IP protocol, then click on the PROPERTIES button. Make sure that your settings are OBTAIN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY.

Then get into your status screen and look at the GATEWAY address. Is that 192.168.0.1 ?

(If you are using Windows 95/98/ME, then go to RUN and go to WINIPCFG)

You can also use the COMMAND PROMPT and type IPCONFIG and it will show the Gateway address. If the Gateway address is slightly different, then try to get into it at that address.

Also from the COMMAND PROMPT, (or MS-DOS window) you can use the PING command. Just type PING 192.168.0.1. If your router responds, you might be OK.

Look at the lights on your ethernet card. Is it GREEN, or does it show YELLOW.

Try rebooting your computer and using PING again.

Then the problem presist it's possible that this Router is NO GOOD.

Hope this Helped!

Actiontec router log behavior

The router does store the information in itself. The router has a small region for storing information on operations and logs. That log might be accessible from the router's control panel. However, every router is different and therefore I can't guarantee that your router will allow you to view its log.

Most likely the router will store the log in the same area used to store the Router's firmware. This is a relatively small storage chip with just enough space to support the firmware of the router, the router's control panel source files, and the log.

Let me know if I can explain anything mentioned above in more detail or if I can assist you with anything else.

Hi. I got a MEGA105WR ADSL Router and SAMSUNG camera system SHR-5040 DVR. I need help setting my router for my DYNDNS account. So I can link remotely by software and webb browers.

These instructions will work on any windows computer version 2000 and up.

In order to open ports you need to gain access to your router's control panel. To do this we go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. From here type in: ipconfig
Press ENTER to execute the command. A list should be returned listing some IP Addresses. Look for the one associated with, "Default Gatewaty."

Here is a picture.

Afterward open your Internet Browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc...) and type the IP Address associated with the default gateway into the address field of the browser. DO NOT add www. or .com. Afterward press ENTER or click GO as if you wanted to visit a website.

Here is a picture.

Once you're at the control panel you will probably be asked to log in. If you do not know your login details you can always try the default. To find these you can either search your router's user manual or head to the online search engines entering your router's manufacturer's name, the router's model #, and the words, "default password" into the same search request to bring up the default login credentials. For example:

Linksys WRT54G default password

Here is a picture.

If you still can't manage to log in to your router's control panel you will have to contact the technical support department of your router's manufacturer asking them for assistance in resetting the login user ID and password of the router.

Once you manage to log in to your router's control panel, locate areas hinting anything in port-forwarding. Such as:

Port Forwarding
Firewall
NAT
Virtual Servers
Applications

You're trying to find a panel similar to the one depicted in this screenshot. Please note that the panel will probably not be alike. However in order to forward ports the router needs this information:

Ports to forward, on which protocol, and where to forward the ports.

Once you manage to find the appropriate screen for port-forwarding you will have to check with SAMSUNG to determine which ports need to be opened to allow remote access to your DVR.

Need to know my ssid number

There's a couple of ways to find this.

1. I don't believe the wbr-100 can hide its SSID so when you browse for available wireless networks, your router should be the SSID with the strongest signal. It may be "Gateway" by default.

2. Connect to the router with an ethernet cable, bring up a web browser and type the following address in the address window:

http://192.168.1.1

When prompted for a login ID and password, type in

admin

for each. If your router is set to the factory defaults, you will be logged in to the management page of the router. Click on "Wireless" on the left side of the screen. You should be able to see/configure the SSID from here.

Security-enabled wireless network

go to the wired computer and type in 192.168.0.1 and see if it brings up a box that says username and password. Some routers have different passwords set so go to this link and choose your router from here.

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

after you have gotten what your password should be on your router from there then just log in and see if there is an option under security to fix your problem.
