My hp w1907 goes to sleep and wont come back on. It flickers on and indicate the vga signal is active and flickers off. Everytime I turn it off and on again it does the same thing. I have unplugged everthing and re plugged everything back in and the same thing continues to happen. Funny thing is that I hooked my old monitor up and there are no problems - so far anyway. Does that mean it's something wrong with the monitor and not the computer?

No, no virus. This is usually a power supply problem. I see this thing all the time with LCDs. If you montior is less than 3 years old Dell should replace it for you.

Just go to this link:

https://support.dell.com/support/supportrequests/create.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Type in your PC's service tag and click send them an email or do what I do and use the online chat feature. It is quick and easy. You'll need to give the very log serial number off of the back of the monitor (usually begins with the letters MX, CN, or MC).

However, if it is older than 3 years you may be stuck buying a new display. Luckily there are some great deals now on new LCDs....let me know how it goes.

Turn on my monitor from sleep mode

It should turn on when you move the mouse around a bit. Otherwise, it is in hibernate and you need to push the start button for 1 second or so to wake up the computer.

Moniter goes into sleep mode after i turn it on. Have to turn off the monitor for 20 seconds and then it comes back on for about 20 seconds and goes back into sleep mode

This may be a problem with the monitor, such as a failing video board, or it may also be a problem with the video card in your computer. If you can try the monitor on another computer or try a different monitor on your computer, you will have the answer. At the price new 18" widescreens are selling for (sub 100.00 in Canada), I would have a hard time justifying spending too much time or money trying to fix this one.

Hp l2208w going sleep

Hi
I am sorry that the Monitor is going to sleep mode. Are you experiencing the same issue with different Tower or CPU? Turn OFF the monitor and power cycle it after a minute and check if the same issue persists. Also, reinstall the Video Driver.

HP f2105 monitor going into sleep mode on it's own

Does it do the same when you use this monitor with other PC, new VGA cable, just need to narrow down the problem first before start taking the monitor apart.
See pictures of what usually goes bad (mostly failed capacitors) with monitors:

Sharp light turns green thern turns yellow screen goes black

it is going into sleep mode, good luck with this.... i am currently asking how to get my hard drive to quite putting my monitor into sleep mode.

although it hasn't worked for me because my screen stays black, one of the options given to me is to try to start in safe mode and then adjust your settings to "never" on the energy/sleep/hibernate mode

some one else suggested that i remove and reseat the video card

hopefully one of those will work for you
