Question about Amana ABB2227DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
It is the flipper thing for the freezer light. When I open the freezer door it stops. Is there a motor or something turning the light on and off ? It si a constant grinding noise ! PLZ help me
I was having this same problem and just fixed it. When you close the freezes door the switch turns off the light (everyone know that). That same switch also turns on an evaporator motor and fan that comes on. If ice builds up in the freezer treys, it will cause this motor and,or fan to make noise. My freezer had a piece of ice stuck in the maker. I broke it free, and the noise stopped. If you don't have ice built up on yourself, you may need to replace the motor (AND fan) located behind the panel in the back of the freezer. Good luck!

The light is switched on and off by a small lever which is pushed when closing or opening the door. This operates a microswitch. It would not make any grinding noise. Grinding noise can come from the fanmotor which would also stop when the fridge door is open.
