Yahoo messenger will not allow me to sign on. Whenever I select "sign in" it briefly turns yellow but then goes back to the sleep mode. yahoo messenger will not allow me to log in. It briefly turns yellow then goes back to sleep

If you have tried restarting your computer, signing in with your Yahoo e-mail prefix (without the @yahoo.com) and your e-mail password without sucess, and you are sure your caps aren't locked and your information is correct, Yahoo Messenger Help suggests the following:

Why can't I connect with Yahoo! Messenger?

No go, eh? We're sorry to hear you're having problems connecting to our servers. Your Yahoo! Messenger connection information may be incorrect. Follow these steps to configure your connection:

Click the Messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."

Enable the "Firewall with no proxies" option.

Select the correct Internet connection type and country from the pull-down menus.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button.

Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

The above configuration works in most situations. (However, if you connect in this way, you won't be able to use the Voice feature.) If this configuration doesn't work, follow these steps:

Click the Messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."

Enable the "No network detection" option and then click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button.

Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

If neither of the above options work (sorry), you're probably behind a firewall or proxy server that requires you to enter its address. Follow these steps:

Click the Messenger menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select "Connection Preferences."

Enable the "Use proxies" option.

Enter your firewall or proxy server's address and port number. Contact your network administrator (if you're at work), or your Internet service provider (if you're at home) to determine the correct firewall and proxy settings.

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in with your new proxy settings. Click the OK button.

Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and click the "Sign In" button.

If you try all of the steps above and Yahoo! Messenger still can't connect, contact your network administrator, Internet Service Provider (ISP), or the person who initially set up your computer to ensure that your firewall and/or proxy settings are correct.

If that doesn't work, You may have too many programs running in the background draining your system's resources.

Click on: Start
Click on: Run
Type: msconfig
Click on: Startup
Uncheck: All programs which you don't need starting up every time you reboot or restart your computer.

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER

If that doesn't help, make sure you have the latest Macromedia Flash Player installed by clicking here:

If that doesn't help, you might have a corrupt file in your Yahoo! Messenger directory. To fix the problem, you must manually delete the Messenger directory on your C: drive (default), then reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.

To delete the directory:

Close the Yahoo! Messenger application if you currently have it running. Make sure all instances of Internet Explorer are closed.
Go to your desktop and double-click "My Computer."
Click the "C:" drive.
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!
Highlight the Yahoo! Messenger folder and press the Delete key on your keyboard. (All archives will be deleted if they are not copied. Please see below.)
To install:

Close all running applications except for your Internet browser.
Visit the Yahoo! Messenger home page.
Click the "Download Now" button.
To copy your complete Message Archive:

Close Yahoo! Messenger (if it is currently running).
Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."
Select the "C:" drive.
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles.
Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete Message Archive. Copy it to the same location on another computer if you wish to view it elsewhere.
Note: If you copy this folder to another computer, your complete Message Archive will be copied, overriding the Message Archive on the computer to which you are copying.

If you are still unable to sign in, on Internet Explorer:

Click on: Tools
Click on: Internet options
Click on: Delete Cookies
Click on: Delete Temporary files

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER

This is most likely blocked by a firewall program, turn off your firewall for a moment and see if you can sign in, also restart yahoo.

How to hard reset a WM8880 laptop


Power the unit off (holding power buttom) and selecting Power off, then simultaneously hold the "back" button and on button for about 8 seconds. When the android icon appears, press back buttom, in the menu select wipe data/factory reset pressing the home buttom and then press the back buttom, in the next screen select "yes delete all user data" pressing back buttom, and in the next screen select "reboot system now" with the back buttom and wait.

If the games are in fact, "yours" then you can configure your game server to publish on the normal HTTP port (80). Then, you will have no trouble at all.

How do i turn off the HDD


What happens when entering the sleep mode is the drives will be turned off and the present state will be kept in memory until awakened. While the system is active the power scheme will prevent the drives from idling down after so many minutes with the never turn off setting applied.

With the turn off drives after the default 20minutes of inactivity that doesn't mean all drives turn off at the exact same time. I've never come across any reference for changing the power plan option for individual drives. But I can point you at the guide for the power plan settings with one instruction on drive settings to apply prior to entering the sleep mode.

Bluetooth & sound


Generally, connecting phones via bluetooth to a laptop just allows for file transfer between the two devices. It is not to input sound from the phone through the speakers of the laptop. You would need a bluetooth audio device for that such as bluetooth speakers or headphones

I can receive email on yahoo, but can not forward anything from my email account with yahoo

You will need to check your outgoing smtp settings in yahoo. Below is the information to set this up.
1) Yahoo! Mail Settings (if allowed)

Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)

2) Yahoo! Mail Plus email server settings
Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication)
