RX-V363 Yamaha Theater System

Dear Sirs,
After reciever sits over night. It will not turn on. It is in standby. When you turn it on to try to boot up than turns off. Gives Check Sp Cables Code. I have checked them and there is no problem. Hooked up to Bose System. 10 Speaker. Optimas. I unplug the recevier, after a few tries turning it on and off than it will boot. Pesky on off switch?? I have it connected to a good grounded surege protector with 1800 jewles. receiver is set to 6 OHM. Bose takes 4 Ohm to 8 Ohms no problem.

Should I Contact Yamaha? Or, is this a know defect in Power on switch?

Just check your speaker cabling again. Make sure that all of them are seated properly, none is touching each other or the body of receiver. Rewire if necessary..
Are you using banana plugs for connecting speaker or just directly. Some times even a little tiny frayed speaker cable touching the receiver could trigger the protect mode. Be careful, since protect mode is sometimes not fast enough and it could blown a few trasistors in the power circuit.

If everything else seems all right and still your receiver goes into protect mode or wont tun on then it possible that there are bad connections on the main board that sets in. How old is your system? if its still underr warranty then you should contact Yamaha immidiately.

If the reciever is old and if you can solder, you should be able to repair it yourself. This should be a simple repair that will not require parts. If not, then a local service center will change the local labor rate.
Let me know if I can be of any further help. Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!

The unit probably experienced a power supply failure, and will have to be troubleshot. You should contact Yamaha to find an authorized repair facility near you. Here's their support site:
You also contact a local repair shop. Make sure you get an estimate first, since repair can be costly.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Enters standby after being on for only a few seconds.

Sounds like either the volume is turned up too loud, or you have a short. Have you tried disconnecting all the speaker leads from the rear, and then powering it on? Usually if it turns on for a short time and then shuts off, it is throwing itself into protection mode.

No Soound on Subwoofer from Yamaha RX-V363

I have the same setup. Are you going out of the subwoofer output of the reciever? (it's purple.) then into the LFE jack of the subwoofer (also purple.) That's the only connection you need besides power. If you have those right, try using your cable for something else to make sure the cable is good. Is the indicator of the subwoofer green? Mine comes on with the reciever. Good luck!

Fortunately you are wrong :)
On yamaha site you can see that RX-V363 has a DOCK connector, which supports both iPod docking station YDS-11 and Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver YBA-10.
