Question about Buffalo Technology DriveStation HD-HC500U2 500 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive

1 Answer

Everything on my drive disappeared with only a system file left.

I opened my Buffalo DriveStation and everything on it was gone except a system file but it says the space has been still been taken. I do not want to format it. I just want to restore what is on it.

I cleared up my HD-CE500U2 earlier and deleted everything I didn't need and since then, I have restarted my computer and the light on the drive is on, but it isn't being recognised by my compu

there is only one way put another harddisk on your system and install the os which you have in old one after installing it and remember do not open any disk untill you didnot put any antivirus and update.

after that shut down your system and put that old hard disk with new one and before access that hard disk scan it properly .

1st of all try it in another PC, and see if it does then same. Then we can establish if it's the drive station or the PC.

Hello.... Hard time with your hard drive... Your hard drive need to be re formated (cause bad sector) due to corrupting file in your hard drive... You may have to save the rest of your programs and files
in another Hard drive then fix this one., a good program for that partition magic is the best.. Download it from the net for free..

I have a buffalo hd-hsu2 external hard drive that I want to give to my cousin but first I would like to delete everything on it. How do i do that? Thankyou in advance.

Double click on My Computer, Right click on the device, select Format. This will not remove all the files but will turn off all the flags pointing to the files. For all intents and purposes, to the honest user, the drive will appear to be empty.

If you require more security ... please ask your question again stazting what you have done.

Time for physical format ???

Did you fit the drive into the Buffalo drive case? If so, take it out and put it in your computer tower/case and format it from there. Then put it back into your Buffalo case.
Go to the Buffalo sight and see if your Drivestation needs a firmware update - there may have been bugs in the one you purchased.
