I bridged an either-net cable from 2wire modem to Net Gear Wireless router. I need to turn off wireless (DHCP?) on the 2Wire modem, since it is unecessary. I am prompted at login for admin password at...

If you want to turn off dhcp for 2wire then connect the two wire to a computer and use :192.168.1.254 .But if you are doing in for netgear then yes you can use :192.168.0.1 with the user name as admin
password as password

*** it will work only if you have never customized the router admin password . else do a hard reset of router (pin hole in the back - press and hold 20 secs )and the router will be in factory default mode ..

Attempting to connect WGT624 V4 as a wireless bridge to connect to my 2 wire qwest dsl modem to connect tv components to internet along with Xbox 360

To establish the bridge connection, make sure to write down the Wireless MAC Address of the 2wire first. Now login to your Netgear router's setup page and go to the wireless bridge settings. Manually type there the Wireless MAC Address of the two wire. Make sure to enter the same SSID, same Channel and same Wireless Security Key to successfully establish the wireless bridging. Save your settings after that and reboot the router.

2wire VPN over cisco router 800 series

yes.
when u bride modem you have to go inside ur cisco if u have ur 2wire bridge u should pick up a diffrent ip than 192.168.1.254 on the default gatewat | go to ur command prompt or DOS screen |
vista type CMD on ur search on the start menu at the bottom
xp go to RUN then type CMD | should brin up black screen
type in (ipconfig) look for default gateway |
go to ur browser and type that IP address on the address bar
should take u to ur cisco interfase | then should ask ur for a username and password try variation of admin admin or (blank) admin or admin (blank) that should get u in
if u see DHCP make it PPPoE then it should ask u for username and password from ur ISP or ur primary email address from ur ISP and password | that should do the trick
*****if u cant find username and PWD go to WAN setting manual settings then PPPoE and then USRname and PWD

Netgear wgt624 just stopped connecting to internet

I encountered the same problem, with the same modem and also Comcast, and here's what wound up working for me, after time spent with a nice guy on the Netgear customer support line:

1. Log into router: http://192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.1.1) - user: admin / password: password

2. Under Maintenance, click Router Status. If IP Address is listed as 0.0.0.0, there's your problem-- router isn't getting address from modem.

3. At bottom of Basic Settings, under Router MAC Address, change selection from Use Default Address to Use Computer MAC Address.

4. Click Apply.

5. Click Router Status again-- non-blank IP address should now be listed.

6. Basic Settings will now show MAC address under Use This MAC Address. See if you can get online now. I could, and I hope you can, too!

Setting Up the Netgear WGT624 as a bridge

Just disable the DHCP function of the Netgear router. Connect them from LAN port of 2wire to LAN port of Netgear.

Tring to bridge my 2wire

Why do you need to bridge?

Can't you use both devices off the one router?

usually to bridge you would need, effectively , 2 extra access points to set as the bridges, they then connect to the other routers, allowing communication between the 2.

I do know 2wire is slightly different but you would still need something to act as a bridge on the netgear end.

I still don't understand why you need both routers running. Connect both your computers to the same router which has the internet connection.

Hope this helps

Tony

Trying to hookup a wireless router to HP 1100

DSL uses PPOE, which may be different than what you had previously. Cable, for example, uses TCP/IP.
Re-set the router to defaults, and follow the instructions for PPOE, which should be in your manual or setup disk. Your ISP may have this info on their site, or you can get it at the Netgear site:
www.netgear.com
