How to put single handle Am. Stand. kitchen faucet back together

My father took apart my American Standard kitchen faucet to replace the O ring.  However, he didn't watch the order and there is one plastic split ring that we are not sure where it goes. It seemed to be on the base, but when we put it where we thought it went we can't get the sleeve over the inner parts.  It is causing a bigger problem than when we began.  I would like to know specifically how to put this faucet back together so that it works and doesn't leak.  I would appreciate your instructions.

How to fix leaky American Standard single faucet kitchen sink

The A-S single lever kitch faucet is terrible. If it is the one I think it is, then it has three screws that mount the cartridge down into the faucet body.If these are not torqued perfectly evenly, the faucet leaks. I suggest getting a Moen to replace it.

Our American Standard kitchen faucet has become hard to swing from one side of the sink to the other. What could be causing this? Is there a bad part?

Hi! If there are no leaks from around the spout, you can remove the spout and apply silicone lube to the spout o-rings and resemble. If it is still hard to move ,replace the o-rings.

I have an american standard kitchen faucet, when the handle is half open I get a leak, at home depot where I bought it two years ago, they told me I need to take it apart to see which kit will repair...

The single handled faucets have a valve cartridge which needs to be replaced when it leaks. Disassemble the handle to find the valve inside. Take the valve to the hardware store to be sure you get the right one and reassemble. To disassemble, pop the cap off the lever, unscrew the single screw, then use slip-joint pliers to loosen the retainer nut. lift the cartridge out with pliers taking note of the direction of the notch at the top of the stem. Be sure to reassemble with the notch facing in the same direction. You should replace and lubricate the O-rings when you change the valve cartridge.
Since you have the numbers for that particular faucet, you might want to call around to find the cartridge first. Different models have different valves, so be sure yours is correct.

How to replace sprout seal kit?

After you remove the handle, the chrome cap should either snap or spin off.It also may come out with the cartridge... There are 3 screws that hold the cartidge in the faucet...take them out and you should be able carefully work the faucet are off of the core of the faucet. Put a little cooking oil on the o-rings after you install the new ones... just to allow the faucet arm to slide on without damage... Hope this gets you dripless!! Let me know if you have a question. Replace the seal on the 470 DST single handle pull out faucet

Turn the water off at the faucet, remove the handle and the retaining nut that is apart of the trim. You will see where you can use a wrench to remove it. The ball assembly will come right out and you can replace the washers right below it. Put it back together and if needed, tighten the tension ring that is on the retaining nut (usually grey or white in color) so it won't leak water around the ball stem. Good luck.
