Yes it is possible. Now i need you to click on start /control panel

Here make sure you are in classic mode, you should be able to find an icon called "system". to change to classic mode, click on the classic mode option on the top left.

In the system window, click on the tab for hardware and then click on device manager

Check to see under "sounds and other hardware" if you can see your sound card installed.

Also, check to see oif there is anything listed under "other devices"

Now, another information i would need is the make and model of you PC

My computer can play audios and videos but cannot produce any sound and i have tried to play both CDs, Flash and some music saved inside still the same problem occurs. what can i do? thanks.

THIS WILL HAPPEN IF:
-if your speakers are plugged in the wrong hole
-if the power adapter from the wall to the speaker fails
-if the speakers are muted in windows sounds properties (double click speaker icon by clock on desktop to check-making sure the MUTE box is NOT checked)
-if the sound card drivers are corrupt or not installed
(right click "right click "my computer" left click "properties"- click the "hardware" tab at the top- click on the "device manager" button
scroll down to where it says "sound and audio" with a + next to it. if there is a yellow ! or ? it means that your software drivers for the sound are corupt or missing and will need to be reinstalled using the install disk or downloaded drivers from the dell website which are free.
Regards.

IBM Desktop no sound after i tried to connect it to Television

check the connectiion cable and tv setting faults, if their is non then know your audio jack pin port is faulty. in case of the jack pin port fault you need to acquire pci audio card that you insert at the extesion slots or a usb audio card.

My unboard sound card is not working. In the sound and audio devices properties window it shows no audion device. How do I get this to work?

One option that you have is to re-install the drivers. Because this hardware is onboard, you will have to specify what model computer you have before anyone can provide you with help on how to find those drivers.

Once you download and install the drivers for your motherboard, you can go back to device manager to check the status of you audio. If it still doesn't work after re-installing the audio drivers, I would suggest that you totally disable the onboard audio and install an expansion card with audio ports in one of your open PCI slots.

If you will post a comment providing information about the model computer and/or motherboard you're using, it will be much easier for someone to help you find the appropriate audio drivers. From that point, you can figure out whether or not the onboard audio is still functioning.

Thanks for using Fixya!

How do I disable the onboard sound in an Aspire m5621 desktop

there is normally an option in bios to turn off. Are you sure there is no option? Its normally under onboard controller/etc. When you go into bios try holding CTRL+F1 as for some bios's this enables an advanced menu.

If this does not apply then can you go into device manager and sounds/audio controllers? It should be listed there, generically its ac97 audio, or something like this. Right click, properties, uninstall/remove device.

I hope this helps.

Soundcard

Hey there, the HP bios is pretty smart - it should automatically detect a new sound card and switch off the internal one when installed - alternatively you can go to the 'system devices' panel and disable it in the software as well.
hope this helps
cheers

NO SOUND AT ALL

First check if the onboard sound is enable on your computer's BIOS, so restart your pc and press the DEL key on your keboard so you can access it then make sure the audio is enable if its disbale enable it then try now if it will working.

If the audio is enable on BIOS and still no sound check if the audio is installed properly under device manager Right click on Mycomputer>properties>hardware>device manager>then look for the audio device that should be enable and working properly if not you need to reinstall the driver for it.

remove the sound card from the board and put it back in. Enter the mixer, by clicking on the speaker icon at the buttom of the screen or going ito axcessories / entertainment / volume control

Click device and put your sound card as the default device..

If that dont work you might want to try remove the sound card and using your onboard audio or getting a new card..

just rememer to set what ever device you are using as your default device..

Difficult to diagnose from afar but go to Start>Run, then type 'dxdiag' without quotes and see if; when it does a sound and video test anything shows up.
