Yes it is possible. Now i need you to click on start /control panel

Here make sure you are in classic mode, you should be able to find an icon called "system". to change to classic mode, click on the classic mode option on the top left.

In the system window, click on the tab for hardware and then click on device manager

Check to see under "sounds and other hardware" if you can see your sound card installed.

Also, check to see oif there is anything listed under "other devices"

Now, another information i would need is the make and model of you PC

Go to Volume Controls - Options menu - Properties... is it in the Mixer drop down box there? You might find the problem is that any onboard soundcards you have on the motherboard are now set to default since you reinstalled. In which case go to device manager and disable it. If problem persists try a reinstall of saffire whilst the onboard card is disabled. Some motherboards allow you to disable the onboard sound from the bios menu too, that could be something to try

Try to update the sound drivers through device manager. I think it will be helpful.

My Computer (right click) - properties - hardware - device manager - right click on audio or sounds - then properties - then drivers - then click on update drivers - then follow the steps

First of all if this doesn't help you fix your problem. PLEASE do not rate it.
Have your soundcard CD on hand.
1.) Uninstall the software that came with the sound card.
2.) Right click My Computer, select Properties, click on Device Manager button under Hardware tab.
3.) Go down the list to Sound, expand that into a list. Double click Legacy Audio drivers, choose uninstall.
4.) Shut down your PC and at the back of the machine, turn the rocker switch to the 0 or off position. Remove the side cover. You should not see a bright LED light glowing on the mainboard.
5.) Remove the sound card from its current PCI slot and move it down one or up one slot.
6.) Replace the side cover, bootup and press f2, F10 or DEL whichever key gets you into the system bios setup pages. You want to find the Onboard Devices page or page with Onboard Devices listed. Highlight onboard audio or AC'97 and the toggle to disabled. If it is already disabled leave it alone, now go to the exit page and bootup.
7.) When you have your desktop but things are still loading, you may be prompted to install drivers for new hardware. Press Cancel or ESC to back out of the Windows Add New Hardware wizard.
8.) Insert the install CD and allow it to install the drivers and then follow up with the associated programs.
9.) Reboot your computer and insert your analog audio out or spdif out to your speaker system's input panel.

Once you reach your desktop again, double click the volume icon in the system tray and check that the proper sliders are up and not muted.

Go to, Control Panel, Sound and Multimedia. Access the property pages for the speakers and ard. Choose digital output only.

You should be good to go at this point. Insert an Audio CD and you should receive sound once again.

If this doesn't work... still, you have a bad sound card. I've returned two to Creative so far. You will want to contact their support department and request an RMA and refer them to our troubleshooting run down

Good Luck,
Worldvet
REMEMBER, if this hasn't worked please DO NOT rate this solution. There was only a 50/50 chance it would work.

Tascam midi and audio conflict error

Hi,
First try turning off the onboard audio device using the BIOS interface. Try pressing f4, f2 or delete key rapidly at the flash screen beginning when you first turn on the computer. Look around in the bios (usually in "integrated periperals" area) and disable any onboard audio options that you see.
-In windows XP you can go to Control panel - Sound Devices and change the "map through" feature, select your default device, and run a hardware test simulation with a microphone for each device. Nice setup btw.

Sound card problems

Hey Sue, first thing you need to do is press delete when you first switch the pc on to get into the bios, and under usually intergrated deviced, disable the old onboard sound, and save the settings, load windows normally go into control panel, system, device manager, double click on any sound related devices that has a yellow tag next to it, and click on update drivers, make sure you have the cd in the drive, and let it search the cd for the drivers, do it for each device with yellow tag and then it should work. All the best John
