I applied a too-dark Watco teak oil to a small section of oak flooring. How can I lighten the tone?

This could be difficult depending on how far in the stain oil penetrated the wood. Sanding removes the top stain. You may want to watch this video and see if it's something you want to try.

Refinishing a table of Malaysian Oak. Sanded to bare wood. Used oil based preconditioner and then oil based stain. Came out blotchy. What did we do wrong? Can this be fixed before Poly?

redo it and use gel stain. , rubber wood is not consistent in porosity
use wipe on ply a little at a time is far better than 1 heavy coat, runs sags or is not even you will have to start over again. I use 600 grit sanding disk and very lightly clean the nubs off the 1st coat. if you keep putting finish over nubs it will go away and again you are at it again..

I took off all of my old hardware on my kitchen cabinets. I cleaned them really well and want to put the new handles on. The old handles were bigger and now you can see where the old handles were.

You don't mention what you are applying the stain to. did you fill it with something? for a wood species, it is best to make sawdust by sanding the same type of wood as the cabinet. mixed with a bit of glue it creates a custom wood filler close to the color of the wood. try staining with a cotton swab, over and over till it blends. Now if you don't have the same color stain that will oblige you to make a custom stain by mixing more red or yellowish stains. the is another way, if you can find a wax filler stick the same color as the cabinet, though using the crayon is not a fix, melting the wax into the hole might do the job, remove extra with a blade without scratching surface around. good luck

I'm using old masters espresso stain over red oak new hardwood floors. Do I need to use a sealer or will 3 coats of Duraseal matte finish be sufficient?

I would use Duroseal . Follow manufactures recommendations. Ensure that it will not impart a color to stain.

Remove mold on hardwood floor

Spray the oak floor with a 50% solution of white vinegar solution mixed with water and let stand for an hour, then clean with hot soapy water. Alternatively clean the floor with a steam mop, as either method will kill the mould on your floor.

My stain is darker on one side of floor...used minwax polyshade and it looks like two totally different colors.

Did you mix the stain up before you used it? Is it possible that there are two different woods on the floor? Is the difference delineated from one board to another or is the difference in shade blotchy? You can try to mix the stain you have with a lihjter stain, but that is a hit-or -miss propostion.

How to stain fiberglass entry door?

You cannot use regular stain on a Fiberglass door. Stain is made to soak into wood. It cannot soak into Fiberglass. It will peel right off in several months depending on the weather. A solid stain may would work for a while, but it will not hold up as well. Whereas stain is made to soak into wood, paint is made to sit on top of surfaces. There are some nice paints that look like stained wood if that is the effect you are looking for. But if you want the new finish to last on your door, use paint. Make sure you clean the door thoroughly with a degreaser, prep solvent or paint thinner
