Question about Denon AVR-2106 Receiver

1 Answer

CDG or DVD skips

Sometimes my karaoke player works and sometimes it doesn't. The CDG or DVD just won't click on sometimes. Other times it will skip. Sometimes it will do this right away, other times I can play it for an hour or so before it starts skipping. I've tried those cleaning CDs, and they might help for awhile but not long. Is something wrong with the laser or something? I've had it a few years. Anything I can do so I don't have to buy a new one? It's a RSQ DVD-505G standalone player. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I came here hoping to find a solution to the exact same problem. I also used the CD cleaning discs. Had the same result. Works for a while, then it just does the same thing again. Problem is, I have a party tomorrow. We are planning on using the Singing Machine STVG 718. (That's the name of my machine)

That phone hole might be for headphones. Is that what you have connected or is it a telephone? I am not familiar with this player but I don't know of any that connect a telephone although I wouldn't be surprised. Hope that helps..

Receiver will click off

check your power supply to make sure the correct amps and volts are there. check your speakers to verify the correct ohms for the receiver. if the ohms are to big you will shut down because it overdraws on the receiver.

Audio skips

You can get a blu-ray clean lens kit. Just as with other dvd players, or even a long time ago VHS tapes, those heads have to be cleaned, but with dvd's it is the lens. It gives you a disk and instructions how to clean your lens.

The power swich wont let it out of standby and the cd player wont work

pull the plug from the wall outlet, and wait for one hour and plug again,it's like you reboot the system, problem like this ,your player needs to clean, this is symptom of dirt and hardened grease in the rail chrome bars. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn’t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There’s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. if i helped, please click fixya,it is the only way i get paid for my works...

This can be the first sign that the optics are starting to fail. It can also indicate dirty optics. Try opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Also, with a dry cotton swab, clean off the "sled rails". These are the shiny rods that the optic assembly rides on. Sometimes the grease on these rails can collect dirt and cause the movement of the optics assembly to be erratic. Let us know how you make out.

Yamaha RX-V2700 skipping when playing a DVD on Toshiba D-R400

Sounds like a poor grounding issue between the units OR maybe they're not as compatible as the Mfg's say.

Could be a bad HDMI cable also. Most are made in the land of Nanking
