Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Printhead Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.
Is the Demo printout giving the same result?
If so, you may need to replace the printhead. This is a very common problem with this model. You have to contact Kodak to be sent a new printhead to fix the problem. You click through the support on Kodak and then they automatically send out a new print head. To get the link to this on-line support chat with the live tech support and they can direct you where to go to find this solution. I dont remember the web link they directed me to but once there I answered a bunch of questions and got a new printhead in the mail pretty quick (no cost to me) and as of yet its been fixed. Or Call Kodak: Live phone support is available in English and Spanish at 1-800-421-6699, 9 A.M. to midnight Eastern time, 7 days a week. When you get the printhead, here is how to replace it: http://www.kodak.com/global/plugins/acrobat/en/service/manuals/AiOPrinters/printhead/AUR1780-9_UE_RevC.pdf

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles. If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive. It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.
Try going into Printing Preferences in the Kodak Printer Program and perform Maintenance.
You do not say which operating system you are using.
Start > (Control Panel) > (Category View) Printer > right click on the Kodak icon > Printing Preferences > Maintenance > Nozzle Check > Head Cleaning > test print > repeat nozzle check, head cleaning & test printing until problem is gone.
If this does not fix the problem, replace the black cartridge > head cleaning > test print.
You might need to perform head cleaning after every cartridge change.
Does the ink cartridges are new or old? How long did you stop printing? Because if you stop printing for a very long time, the ink dries up and you need a little cleaning for the print head. Remove the ink cartridges and rub the print head into a plain paper with alcohol until ink flows and the run the cleaning maintenance like print alignment or print nozzle.
