Only crushed ice

The auger switch in the door is bad or the auger motor is seized up/ stuck. The door switch is the problem the majority of the time. It's a simple repair. Just be careful with disassembling the plastic parts and use a flash light to find hidden screws in dark places.

Most of the time the bin has been removed and not put back in properly. When this happens ice blocks the drive motor. Remove the bin and turn the auger by hand make sure it will turn and is not jammed. Now with the bin out push the light button in that turns the light out and have someone push the button for ice while the door is still open the motor should turn in the back make sure thereis no ice blocking it. If it turns nothing is wrong with the motor. The clicking sound is usually the motor jammed by ice or the auger not engaged on the motor. hope this helps good luck

What is most likely your problem is the crushed ice solenoid. This solenoid, which is located next to the auger motor behind the ice bucket, is failing to actuate when you request cubed ice. Its "home" setting is crushed, and actuates to allow cubes past the crushing mechanism in the bucket. To be certain its the problem, remove the ice bucket, and tape the door light switch in the closed position. actuate the ice dispenser lever, for both cubed and crushed ice. you will see a square hole next to the rotating fork, when you select cubes, it should open. If it does open, there is something wrong with your ice bucket, perhaps the arm is broken, or the door inside bucket is off its snap in type hinge or broken altogether. Replace the switch behind the front panel on the freezer.

There is a solinoid in the freezer section by the motor that turns the ice auger. Test it by selecting cubes and with the ice bucket out, open the door, hold the door switch so the lights turn out and push the dispenser button. It should make a loud snap and travel upward. If not then I would say you have a bad solinoid. If it does, then I would look at the bucket. the metal rod that runs along the side of the bucket opens a flap in the bucket that is supposed to let the full cubes drop. look for anything that might cause it to be hanging up.

If the auger motor turns in either setting we know that the auger motor is OK, and if it does not turn in both crushed and cubes that leaves a problem with the WR55X129 time delay, which is the part that you switch to go from cubes to crushed to water.

When you push the ice dispensing lever, you should be able to hear the micro-switch clicking. If no click, the switch is faulty. The auger motor which is activated by the lever could also be faulty. This is the motor that causes the auger in the ice bucket to rotate one way for crushed ice and the other way for cubes. The auger could also be jammed. Try switching between crushed and cubes to unjam the auger. Empty the ice bucket and start again.

Scorpio, remove the ice bin itself, dump the ice and see if you can move the bin auger by hand by turning the actuator in the rear. If the bin is ok, with the door open and the door switch held in see if the auger motor is turning when pressing the ice lever. If it's not turning the next logical step is to see whether the auger motor is getting voltage when calling for ice. Make sure the door switch is closed.
