My wireless mouse was working, and then it stopped working all together and the usb reads as unknown device. the batteries are fresh and in full power. how can i fix my mouse without having to buy a new...

Firstly try a different USB port.

If that fails - do the following:

Click on Start, go to RUN and in the command box type:
devmgmt.msc and click on OK

Look for any device with a RED cross or a Yellow Exclamation mark next to it. RIGHT Click on the item and click Uninstall.

Once you have un-installed it, unplug the mouse USB connector and plug it into a new USB port and let windows re-detect it.

Hope that works for you. If it still does not detect it - the USB receiver might be faulty - best is to try it in another PC. If it also fails on another pc - it is the receiver and not the PC itself.

Pc not recognizing wireless logitech or usb mouse. I've replaced batteries in the wireless and plugged the usb into every slot available still doesn't work.

If you go into the device manager, look to see if the USB controllers and hubs are detected. Or do they have a yellow warning on them.
When USB ports misbehave for me, I go into the device manager and remove them all and let the machine find them again. Then stuff usually works.
You don't say if you have a desktop or laptop. If you have a desktop, are the USB ports in the front of the machine actually attached to the motherboard?
I'm thinking my first suggestion is the one you should try first.
Then make sure the devices you are installing actually work.
Also, for wireless, be sure you push the "connect" button on the device.

Driver for BL-1081

OK, no problem. Did you get a CD with the mouse and did you install the drivers? When the receiver is plugged in, can you see an unknown device in device manager? (right click My computer>manage>device manager and look for a yellow question mark or a yellow exclamation point. Do you see one? That would mean you need to install drivers.

USB optical wheel mouse not detected by XP

Hi, You can try to: Right click on "My Computer", click on Properties, click on the Hardware tab, click on the Device Manager Button, expand your Mice and other pointing devices. verify that you 2 entries. One is the Sony builtin (Alps in my Vaio) and a HID-compliant mouse. The latter is your external optical wheel mouse. Make sure it does not have any red or yellow mark. Double click on the HID and verify that the next window says "This device is working properly." If not follow on screen instructions to enable or activate. Hope this be of some help. Good luck and pls post again how things turn up or if you need further information. Kind regards.
