Ensure that the satellite cable is well plugged. Try doing again auto program scan on tv to re-program channels, and see if it takes the sat channel.

    Try the following:

Check the cables first, ensure cable from box to tv is OK.

Unplug TV and sat box power cord to reset both.

Plug back TV and start it with sat still unplugged (or cable out if there is no box) and try browsing channel three , if you do not have channel three, then the TV tuner may be faulty.

Restart teh sat box, and try going to channel three, if it is skipping channel three , and this was working with sat off, then the sat box or the connection cable to tv cable are bad.

Try doing auto scan again to catch up the signal from sat box on channel three.

How can I program my tv set to default to channel 3 so that it can work with my cablevision remote control?

Under the TV's native menu setup, only set Channel 3 as an active channel. There should be an option for you to add/remove channels. You'll likely need the TV's original remote; consult your manual.

I just purchased a new RCA 32 inch w/ DVD. When starting up it asks if you will use Cable or Air. I have Dish Satellite and picked air. I only get one channel and if I try to go up or down channels I get a...

You should not have had to choose cable or air. When you have satellite it is considered the same thing as cable. Air is over the air rabbit ears antenna free programming. When you are connecting a satellite receiver you only have to turn to channel 3 or pick the correct av, component or hdmi input. Oh you must be connecting more than one television to the same satellite receiver. When that is the case tv #2 usually has to be set on a different channel and the satellite tv company tells you which channel. You still use the satellite remote to change channels and leave this television on one channel at all times. This television is good enough for its own hd satellite receiver connected with component cables or an hdmi cable though in order for you to see its full potential for displaying hd programs.

I am trying to connect an Insignia flat panel TV to my existing Dish satellite system. Dish satellite system is not HDMI. We have: cable from the wall (satellite) connected directly to the new TV (exactly...

Hi,

I really need to know the model number of your Insignia TV and which connections you are using between the Dish box and the TV to give you the correct answer. If you are connecting both cable and satellite, I believe it should be set-up as follows:

1. Connect cable feed to TV
2. Run auto channel scan on "cable" setting
3. Connect Dish box to TV and then try changing the "input" selection.

With the Dish box switched on to a channel number you know, try pressing the "INPUT" or "SOURCE" button on your Insignia TV remote repeatedly until you find the satellite feed. Once you have done so, you should be able to change satellite channels using the Dish remote.

If you need further assistance, please post back with the model number of your TV and details of the connections you are using on the back of the TV.

Regards,
BElectric

Older person cannot handle two remotes

You can program most satelite remotes to work on any device. Most are universal. If not, I suggest purchasing a universal remote. You can view remote codes online to program your device to your remote. New ones come with instrucions and codes.
Let me know how I can further assist you if necessary

Lost my tv manual moved house unable to ajust and tune and find freeview channels thankyou

Mark, most tv's nowadays have a osd " on screen menu " that can be accessed via the remote control that came with the tv. after adjusting the set up information, cable/ant, auto program will adjust everything including all channels that are available in your area, excluding if your using a cable box, direct tv, or satellite receiver. Hope this helps, tv's have been made very complicated for quite a while now and every manufacture has a different way of adjusting. Also calling the on line support of the manufacturer via internet or phone might be the only solution.
