I have a whirlpool model LER7646DQ0 dryer. I have had to play with timer knob sometimes to get it to run or to stay running, then yesterday it just stopped working. Would this be the timer itself or could something else cause this to happen. I have cleaned the lint trap and the vent.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II: No heat

didc, on a gas dryer, if the thermal fuse blows it will still rotate, but will not heat. Since this is a gas dryer, see if the ignitor is glowing. If it is, then you know the thermal fuse is good. If not, the thermal fuse may be blown or the ignitor itself and thus the reason for no heat. Catriver.7152136.jpg

SOURCE: lint fell back into lint trap. how can i get it out? already looked in back.

An appliance store can sell you a brush that is attached to a long wire. It is made specifically for removing lint from dryers. I have seen them at walmart and other places but for sure at an appliance store. Good luck.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet dryer not drying like it used to

If your duet isn't heating properly and you have taken care of the lint problem then you could have one of two problems. Either you have a bad heating element or you have a bad fuse or temperature sensor.
If your dryer is not heating at all then it is most likely the fuse or temp sensor. If it is heating and just not enough it is probably a bad heating element.
Both problems would require a repairman to come and fix normally, however if you believe it is the heating element that can usually be replaced by the homeowner without too much trouble. Just make sure to ask where it is located from whatever place you but the new element from.

SOURCE: dryer not heating

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

Whirlpool dryer model #LER8620PWD serial #MS3630316. I need to hold down the start button and rotate the timed cycle knob for dryer to turn on .

Sounds like you have bad contacts in your timer. By holding the start button and rotating the timer you are just finding a good contact point and allowing timer to send power to the motor. The timer part number is 3979618 and will run you about 90 bucks. hope this helps

Whirlpool dryer will not start, used to start if I turned timer

whirlpool electric dryer will not start when you push start button. Model No. LER5634AW0. There is power to the dryer. The door switch appears to be working,(didn't check it with a meter). I push the start button, run it through all the cycles and still nothing. Are there any resets or circuit breakers that I could check? Where do I go from here?

Hi my dry had a broken timer knob and the dryer would work if I pushed the knob I got a replacement part but dont know how to rewire it agen and the part looks different the old one had T80 on it but this...

Your timer switch should come with a wiring diagram.
Check with the supply house you got the timer from and let them make sure you have the right part for your model dryer.
Sometimes the new timer will be different, that is where the wiring diagram comes into play.
I hope this helps

Dryer won't run unless I put pressure on the cycle control knob after pressing Start

sounds like you need to replace your timer, or either unplug the machine, an open the head panel an see if any wires are loose in there, changing the timer is an easy job, you should have no problems doing it ......good luck!

Ler7646dQ0 dryer runs only for 2o mins; won't run or start in other positions

Hopefully it's been already mentioned or looked at but check your vent to the outside. Make sure it's not kinked or blocked up with lint. Don't forget to check the outside too!
