Question about Frigidaire GLHS36EESB Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

I recently moved a "new" side by side frigidaire from dallas texas to lubbock texas. It was "laid on its side for the first three hours of the move and then stood up for the last three hour trip. Upon unloading it was plugged in but dosn't cool properly. The ref. area cools slightly but the freezer not at all. I understand that the compressor oil is probably displaced by the move. How do I get it to work? Do I need a service repairman? How do I check to see if the compressor is ruined? Thanks, Jerry in San Antonio, texas

Should have let stand for 24 hours beofer pluging in, quite possible that compressor oils havealready been pumped up into the evaporator area, in which case will problably cause major restrictions in coolant.. try letting stand for a while and then replug, anything other then this youll need a service man

Brand new kenmore elite has been runnuing for an hour and it feels warm inside

When you moved it into place was it ever laid on it's side? If so you have to let it stand up right for a few hours sometime over nite before running it. Make sure all the control are set to the highest setting to get it up to temp then move them down were you'd like them.

My refrigerator wont work after laying it down to move it. What should I do?

I've done that before and there's no hope for it. Once you laid it down the freon got a air pocket in the compressor and it will no longer work. Guy from sears told me that laying them down ruins them.

if while moving it , you laid it on its side, it collected air in the lines, having it unplugged is a good idea, normally 24 hours is enough for the air to settle,, try it again after that time,

The refrigerator is approx. 4 years old (side by side model). It was recently moved 100 miles. It was working fine in its old location, moved it 100 miles and now it does not cool or freeze. The lights...

if you laid it on it's side you could have damaged the sealed system.the machine has to be standing upright just like when it's in your kitchen or the compressor can get damaged,if you stood it back up and didn't run it for a few days the oil might go back down into the compressor but if it was moved on it's side and started most likely you damaged the compressor,or a wire or something got knocked off while moving it if it was moved the compressor running?

If you laid it down when you moved it and didn't wait 24 hours before using it, it's no good now.

Or check the compressor starter/overload relay. It could be burnt on the inside.

Whent it was moved to my new house, it was laid down for awhile, not won't get cold?

Hello. When a fridge is laid on side the fluids in it flow away from necessary areas. Always stand the fridge upright for at least 48 hours before plugging it in. My recommendation is to unplug it and let it sit for 48 hours and then plug it in again. regards, Joe

Amana fridge has been turned off to be moved and was laid on its side and now will not start

Give it 30 minutes it may have been in defrost when you moved it,it runs on a timer that has no idea it's not cold it only knows to turn it off every eight hours for 30 minutes if you are in the middle of that cycle it will come back on.

Moving a Jennair

HI, If it was only on it's side for short time (hour) you will be ok. Just let it rst upward hour or so. If it was on side for hours, let it rest for 12 hours or so.
You should be ok.
