Question about GE WSXH208A Front Load Washer
The plastic door latch that is fixed to the inside of the front door is broken and it will not keep the door latched once the wash cycle has started. It looks like a fairly simple and small plastic part held on with (2) small screws. I went to a GE website and tried to locate the part from a schematic but can only find the "door latch assembly" for $187.00. Does anyone know how I can find this part?
Unfortunately, the "door latch assembly" is what you would need. It comes with a new concrete front tub counter weight which is redesigned to not be able to contact the door latch switch on out of balance spins. It is also a lot of work to replace. (you can not get just the little plastic part) Please don't rate this solution, as anything but a Fix-Ya lowers my score, and I know you don't want to shoot the messenger.

When we went to push the start button on our front loader, it beeped twice, & would not start. We tried everything every blog told us to do, except the door latch. We thought it was ok, because it did latch.... hired a serviceman for $75.00 to come out & tell us it was the door latch system Part # WH10X10006 a GE Part. online price at partsdr.com for $99.99.. we're going thru searsParts direct..they offer more discounts!!!

I don't know how your latch (schematic part # 214) was broken. Mine was broken in 2 places. Picture the latch screwed into the door and the breaks were horizontal through the "base" above and below the top most part of the the 2 protrusions that latch the door. I was able to cut out a piece of thin sheet metal and then "gorilla" glue the 3 pieces to the sheet metal backer and get it to work again. It worked for a couple of weeks and then yesterday one of the pieces came off again and I had to re-glue. I don't think I got a good bond between the galvanized sheet metal and the plastic back. Still looking for a better solution that doesn't involve paying $200.
