Water not draining from the machine

My Bosch Classixx dishwasher is less than two years old and half way through the cycle the"Check water" button lights up and the water has failed to drain from the bottom of the machine. Been through it trying to clear what I thought was a blockage but I don't think it is. Feel it may be a faulty pump - heart sinks as that's what was wrong with the last dishwasher (also Bosch) and then the repairman said it wasn't worth replacing. Any tips?

Ah, sadly not...thank you for the tip which I'll pass on to anyone who has the drain button!!

Thank you JSF1...I shall remember this for next time. In the end I did get someone in to have a look at it and it was exactly that, a small piece of glass. Watched him like a hawk as he removed it and I think I could have a go myself if it happens again. Appreciate your posting.

If it IS the pump, it’s often because some relatively minor item (piece of cocktail stick/bit of nutshell/etc) has found its way past the filters and is blocking the blades of the pump. It is relatively simple to remove the inlet hose to the pump and clear the blockage (a pair of grips to pinch and remove the retaining clip, then the hose will slide off the fitting on the pump). I did this several times on my previous (Hotpoint) machine – and suspect it is no harder on the Bosch (which I now have). If that doesn’t work, you are half-way to replacing the pump, which is not a difficult DIY job and I’m surprised any competent professional repair man wanted to write off a machine where the pump had failed. A new pump should cost around £40-£50 – less than a quarter of the cost of a new machine. DIY fitting would maybe take a couple of hours; a pro ought to do it in less than an hour.

We had that happen on our Kitchenaid dishwasher. The way we solved it is that we pushed the cancel/drain button on the front of the machine. Hopefully yours has a cancel/drain button.

F17 is a time out fault on drain pump. Check all water hoses and drain pump for either blockage or restriction. Failing that, check your waste pipe is clear.
