IBM HTTP 2.0 and WebSphere 5.0 - Problem

By Luisa_K - usenet poster

Hello,

I have a problem on the launch of my IBM HTTP Server 2.0. The server fails
to start because it cannot load a proper module. (Just after the setup of
WAS5). The error is the following:

[Start]
Syntax error on line 819 of D:/IBM HTTP Server 2.0/conf/http.conf:
Cannot load D:/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/bin/mod_ibm_app_server_http.dll into
server: The specified module could not be found.
[End]

My config file (untouched since the setup of WebSphere 5.0):
[Start httpd.conf]
[l819] LoadModule ibm_app_server_http_module
"D:/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/bin/mod_ibm_app_server_http.dll"
[l820] WebSpherePluginConfig
"D:/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/config/cells/plugin-cfg.xml"
[End]

A few informations about the server configuration :
Windows XP SP1 - 392 MB RAM
Sun Java 2 SDK 1.4.1_01

IBM HTTP in: D:\IBM HTTP Server 2.0\
IBM WAS 5 in: D:\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer

Thank you for your help or tips or links,

Godefroy ;-)

Appears that your IHS 2.0 webserver is configured to use the 1.3.x plugin.
The Websphere Application Server release notes
contains information on how to configure IHS 2.0 and WebSphere Application
Server. The LoadModule is different between
IHS 1.3.x and IHS 2.0. Snippet of what the IHS httpd.conf should look like:

LoadModule was_ap20_module /full/path/to_module where to_module is
mod_was_ap20_http.dll

Hope this helps.

Thank you for that but, I setup IHS 2.0 and nothing appears in the Service
MMC in Windows except the following service :
IBM HTTP Server 2.0.42

Even in http.conf, there's no server configured on port 9090.

And furthermore, nothing in the provided documentation talks about the admin
service it is just mentioned on the web site.

Thanks again,

Godefroy R. ;)

IHS has a second service called AdminService.
On Win32 you can start it via Service Control and on Unix via adminctl
start command. Then connect to your URL and port 9090 (by default).

IHs has all the necessary documentation.

Hope this helps,

Chemi.

Thank you Al. This was of great help.
On the IBM website (#),
they say that the great advantage of the IBM HTTP Server is to provide an
"Administration Server that helps to administer and configure IHS servers",
I was just wondering where it is (and what it is...) and how I can activate
it eventually. Do you have any advice or information about that ?

Thanks again

Have a nice day :)

Thanks a lot Al, the HTTP server is running perfectly now.
By the way, do you know where I can find configuration information about WAS
modules for IHS ?

Thanks again,

Godefroy R. :-)
