It could be the Copy setting on your printer. Try to reset the printer to its default settings. From the printer operator panel, press Setup > Defaults > Set Defaults > Use Factory > press OK. Your printer will then ask you to re-enter some printer settings (language, datel, time, etc.). After entering the required info, try to make a copy a again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Sending a fax using the printer control panel:

1. Make sure the printer is on and is connected to a working phone line.
2. Load an original document faceup into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or facedown on the
   scanner glass.
3. From the printer control panel, press the Fax button.
4. Enter a fax number, or press Address Book to select a number from the Speed Dial or Group Dial list.
5. Press Color or Black to select a color or black-and-white fax.
6. Press Start to send the fax job.
