I just took out my fuse on the same model. you have to pull down the microwave and take cover off. there should be like 6 screws on backside and cover will slide back and off. then you will see a fuse cover with a small cylinder fuse in a plastic cover. pull it out and check continuity with volt meter. mine unfortunately came up good still, so i dont know what kinda problem mine is having. had a short in light and it popped and power was gone. good luck!!

You can order Goldstar / LG parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

The model number would be MV-1515W if it's white, and MV-1515B if it's black, but those parts will be the same in both versions.
If you're having trouble with the cooktop lights either staying on or not coming on after they have blown and been replaced, your need your control circuit board repaired. Details are here.

Gold Star 1515W microwave not heating up and when

The magnetron (the part that heats the food) may be bad or the circuitry to the magnetron may have burned out. Basically my advice is that if you have no electrical expertise, it isn't worth fixing. The magnetron if bad, costs almost as much as a new microwave. If you open it up (make sure it has been unplugged for a few hours and don't seen any obvious burnt parts, then most likely the magnetron is done and a new microwave is the way to go.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Everything seems to be working but will not cook

This happens because of a bad door switch . The plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door .

Check also the turntable . It could be out of it's right place .

WARNING :

1:Don't slam your microwave door because this may cause the fuse to blow and this is the reason of bad door switch problem .
2: A microwave is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock even when it's unplugged , so I recommend you to call a repair technician for help .

please don't forget to rate .

good luck .

Gold Star Microwave- model MV 1500MG

Normallyyou have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo)and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

There are many good suggestions for cleaning and deodorizing microwaves here.

Microwave has no power

I'd say the thermostat and/or fuse are blown. I just hope the magnetron survived.

I don't have that exact model's service manual but ones before and after only used one thermostat, similar to the drawing below.

They also have a fuse, usually located in an inline fuse holder connected to the power cord inside.

The owner's manual won;t tell you that, only the repair or service manual.

While we don't have that exact model, we do have the manual for a similar model uploaded here.

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

It may be the fuse, which is usually located behind the grille or on the floor of the oven behind the control panel or between the door switches.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout (TCO) / thermal fuse on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open.

Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

When checking thermostats, if it has a hood fan thermostat, that should read open, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, or even an intermittent fuse.

You should do a continuity test on the fuse while it's in the holder (with the microwave unplugged, of course) then turn the fuse by hand or take it out and put it back in, then test it again.

If you remove the fuse, then press the meter leads against the ends, it can allow internal contact to be made and make a bad fuse appear to be good.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.
