If you want to choose a tone from the available message tones, Click start->settings->sounds and notifications->notification. Under message tone select from one of the presets. If you want to use a custom made tone then you should first covert it to wave file and transfer to the phone.

Feel free to post back if you need more help.

How do i change my sms text message ringtone on my blackberry pearl flip?

You need a notification profile.

1. Go to Profiles > Advanced.
2. Highlight the active profile (typically called Normal), press the Menu key, then choose Edit.
3. Scroll down to SMS Text and press the trackball.

You can then change the tone there. Now this tone or sound will be the same thing you hear when you get a voice message. The Voice Message sound is always the same as the SMS Text sound.
