The Go Gear SA52XX series is only capable of recording FM in Europe - the US versions, even though they have the same manual, will not allow FM Recording. I haven't heard that won't do voice recordings, but it doesn't surprise me - update the firmware - the directions are on Philips website. If it still won't record voice recordings, get a different mp3 player, because this is not the one.
The Philips SA6045, SA5125, and a few others will do FM and voice recordings. Ironically, the newer Philips GoGear's will not.
Sounds like a DB corruption. First, back up your songs if you don't already have a back up. You can do this by connecting the Philips to the PC and back up your songs by double-clicking on My Computer, double-clicking on the Philips icon (some computers may not say "Philips" - they will call the mp3 player a "Removable Drive"), and double-clicking the music folder. Create a temporary folder on your desktop, and drag the music files over to the temporary folder. Once all of your songs are backed up, update the firmware for your player by downloading the most recent version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips' website (make sure you get the one for your exact model), and clicking on the Update tab. You should be good to go after that. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
Merry Christmas Leo! Just got a GoGear for my son and my daughter. I used the bundled application to convert a DIVX AVI file to the Philips GoGear format. Then just open the Windows Explorer, locate the Video folder on the Philips (which should show up as removable drive). Then copy the file over as you would any other data file.
