Intermittant black out on monitor

LUCOMS 17" L 750 TFT MONITOR.
After switching on my desktop pc, the screen keeps blacking out for a few seconds and then coming back on. This on/off continues intermittantly for an hour or so before settling down to normal.
The longer it is on the less it occurs.
I am pretty sure the problem is with the monitor and not the computer.
The monitor is about 3 years old.
Any help much appreciated. Robert

SOURCE: black screen

How old is the computer? Make sure that the power light comes onto the monitor when you plug it in, should be orange and then turn green when video card syncs with it when PC is turned on. If you are getting black screen when PC is powered on:
1. Bad video card
2. Bad video cable
3. Bad monitor
1Solution: Try using a different monitor attached to this same PC and see if it works. If it does, then its the monitor, its cable, or its power supply. If it doesn't work, then its the video card or the video cable coming from monitor.

SOURCE: screen goes black, but power light is on (not blinking)

The problem is not with your screen. Its the problem of Video Card of your system which is unable to send Video Signals to the Screen.

MY VIEWSONIC TFT VM1918 GET BLACK SCREEN WITHIN FEW SECOND . WHILE THE PC IS WORKING

Back-light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

Main board too should be checked. Contact any service technician.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

I just bought a used Mitsubishi-NEC V71LCD monitor. After connecting the power cord, and the video cord, I powered the monitor up. It had a video display for about two seconds, and then went black. I reset...

dhowie, Monitor will need work done to internal "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply board. possible bad electrolytic filter capacitors or thermally intermittant component soldering on printed citcuit board. Your CCFL back-lit LCD display no different than any other brand in it's basic design and operation. Spend an hour in my fixya profile reading about black screen and blank n black screen stuff. Then you will know what you will do or not do to solve V71LCD problem. Follow the links to other sites for more info here on fixya and elsewhere. I will check for response from you at this same posting later.

Emachines monitor goes black while CPU is still working

This PC was sold new day1, in 2009 (a bad year)
and as such had (per your manual) has toxic mercury CCFL background tube lamps at the LCD screen that do just exactly as told so very well.
and PC means Personal Computer
and CPU means central processing unit, a chip a USA invention !
when the screen is black we use the flashlight test (uk torch , burn free, lol.)
point it here.
see data the CCFL? yes, are dead and the do fail intermittent or by hot and cold room. or dead or dim or got yellow for white tinged.

flash-glow-magic2-undefined-undefined-0_1.jpg the problem is bad hardware and googling finds endless geeks that do not understand hardware at all, or little (i call em bit flippers)
Too bad all makers of PC and monitors did not put screen test mode button on the PC, that glows the back lamps
in our shop we use HV CCFL tester to find that truth easy.

the monitor is bad on the desktop PC
if you test the monitor on 2nd PC it fails
if you the failing PC with known good monitor the PC passes all test.
now you learn 3 simple tests, of vast.
but in order based on AGE

big clue #2 is monitor newer showed its ERROR NO SIGNAL or NO connection error, so that clue means PC did not die the monitor did.
no signal , no connection, no sync, or over-range errors never seen.
fans normal. blowing. in PC is clue 3 (and all LED you told too)

Is my monitor dead?

Power light cycling about every second is a sure sign of a switchmode power supply fault, causing it to repeated shut down and then try to restart. Most often this is the result of failed electrolytic capacitors. Assuming you can get the monitor apart without wrecking it (some can be very difficult to separate), the failed electros will show bulging ends and/or leakage of electrolyte. These are normally a straightforward repair job depending on the extent of damage from the leakage.

Black striped down left hand side of display

Hi Danny, you haven't been very clear I will assume you pushed the auto configure on the monitor,
I would go into the menu on the monitor and reset the size of the screen if it has a setting for that 1024x768 should fix the problem
let me know what you find as I have never worked with a hp W19 monitor, if nothing else set the monitor to defaults again in the menu and that may get you back to having normal screens.
