Not that this is 'The' solution, but,
Nearly all pull start mechanisms, are the same.
More often than not, there is a little 'Lug', which blocks the spring.
So that when you pull, you make the tension.
This 'pathetic little lug breaks, thus rendering the pull start, 'inactive'.
Unless you've an old rotter lying around, it's buy new, I'm afraid.
Not the best news in the world, I know.
But I am deserving of those four thumbs,
aren't I?

Bosch angle grinder acts like its burnt out but motor resistance values suggest not

Hi Brian, running your angle grinder on reduced voltage (through overloading the petrol generator) will have caused the current in the grinder to be higher than it should be. This may not be what you expect, but it is a characteristic of rotating machines, they behave differently to resistive machines such as heating elements. You have not indicated how you come to the conclusion that the windings test OK. If you have just checked with an ohm-meter and see a continuity reading, this does not eliminate the possibility that the overheating resulting from over-current has broken down the insulation (evidenced by the smell and sparks) and you have short circuited windings. The grinder will run without a suppression capacitor, it is just there to minimise interference with you neighbour's (or your wife/girlfriend/daughter's :) ) radio. Replacing the capacitor will not restore your grinder, I reckon you have killed it, in spite of the fact that running it on a healthy supply was to quickest way to cool it effectively.

Petrol stihl

Stihl machines have a plastic pawl in the rope pulley, a small r clip retains the pulley and creates some friction on the pawl, as the pulley turns the clip tries to stay still due to the tention this in turn drags the pawl out and into the flywheel drom, so you either do not have enough tention on the r clip, or the small plastic dog has broken.

Start by removing the wire from the cut out switch to rule out a problem with the switch, if still no spark with a new plug it will be a replacement ignition unit.

Cannot remover the coffee grinder from machine.

Remove Coffee Maker's top cover. Slide coffee bean container off (after emptying it of coffee beans). Remove fixing screws (normally philips) securing the bean container platform. Remove grinder's bean intake rubber seal. Unscrew the grinder's fine/course selector, paying close attention to where it was originally fixed, from factory. 4 rubber bushing are anchoring the grinder in place, which can be seen from the front of the Coffee Maker (w/ door opened). Wiggle each rubber bushing through, as you pull grinder from the top. Grinder should come loose, after unplugging wires. - Good Luck

Standard setting for makita petrol grinder mixture screw?

Your question is a little vague as you didn't list the model number, but I believe I can help.

Turn the mixture screw in all the way, BUT slow down, and use finesse as the screw comes close to bottoming out.
You can smash the tip of the mixture screw, or ruin the seat that the mixture screw tip touches!

Now turn the mixture screw out one full turn. Start from there. Adjust it in a little at a time, as the grinder is running, or out a little at a time.
Listen for where it runs best.

The on/off button comes off consequently machine isn't working

if you are handy the switch needs to be replaced. Soldering may be rquired and there is very little wire to pull. You can get a rocker switch at radio shack plus you need a triangular driver bit for base screws, It's really a poor design on a good grinder. You actually NOT have a switch and just hard wire it. I fixed mine for 3 bucks and an hours time

Grinder starts, but doesn't wet coffe before red light comes on

This is a duplicate, here's the answer

I have the same problem but it's easy to fix. Turn the machine off. Open the front panel. Remove the dump box on the side. Pull the grinder unit out.

Look at the thing you just pulled out. You'll see a little ramp going from where everything slides down from the top. That ramp gets damp and the freshly ground coffee starts sticking on it. Take your finger and wipe it off.

Next, is kinda hard to describe. If you put your fingers inside, along the top, center edge of the machine you'll feel a ridge. It's a spring loaded door. Pull it down and clean the grounds out.

Slap it back together and you're good to go. Only takes about a minute when you get the hang of it.
