Question about Samsung HCM5525W 55" Rear Projection Television

Samsung projection convergence issues

I have a samsung hcm5525w which had all 3 colors out of convergence.
i retouched all stk solder and while reassembling, i shorted R465 on the heat sink @ Q433.
When turned on, the set seemed better converged, although it was now zoomed by almost 2x.
i replaced the stk's with ones from another identicle board with no avail.
i replaced the stk's with what i was told were "sanyo original ic's."
Now the set will not turn on, just the red blinking 20 sum odd times.
I know i need to test several resistors, a couple pico fuses, and possibly the flyback.
Im just not sure which ones and their values, i do not have the schematics.
any help would be appreciated. ----Jason

turning it off does not help, since my last post, i have replaced one pico fuse with no result, im not sure if it helps, but when i press the up, down, left, right buttons on the front panel and sometimes i get the no signal "fuzz" noise briefly. I have a descent multimeter, better than average hakko iron, and now a slight bit of frustration. The set worked (but skewed) untill i replaced the ic's and; viola! 85lb. horse pucky paper weight on casters.

doesn't help, has anyone read the first part of the thread? i've covered the basics. i've checked 2 pico's, replaced 1, replaced both ic's, and checked all large resistors, somethings tripping the protection still, i'm not sure how to check the flyback, and i've shorted a large resistor which is still continuous...???

  • carrgo81 Mar 20, 2009

i've checked the resistors next to the ic's, seem close to tolerence

  • carrgo81 Mar 20, 2009

i've already replaced the stk's, and i'm not familiar with the sub-deflection board

  • carrgo81 Mar 20, 2009

    still no help

  • carrgo81 Mar 20, 2009

i still have not recieved any answers that are doing me any good?!?

what should i look for in the power board?

Hi Jason! In your case your right, the most probable cause of the red color is something to do with the flyback. GOOD LUCK! thanks

If TV is not messed up, just put back old STKs and check does TV power up?

If yes, then new STKs are bad. And if TV still in error blink status then you surely need related service manual to test power supplies going in to convergence board.

Most usually the company will not provide the schematic for repairing by the customer itself.the ic may be damaged and to select the damaged one is a great task. From the information you have provided the problem is a convergence problem. If the magic focus or flash focus did not correct the problem likely the convergence IC's have failed and will need to be replaced along with a few defective resistors. A TV repair company will charge about $350 for this repair. This is a very common problem with rear projection TV sets. There could be other parts that are not within factory specs. The only way to be positive of the problem is to have the circuitry diagnosed by someone with the proper TV test equipment to determine what parts that are no longer within specs.the above given is a advise from other technician.thank you

U will need to check out the ic and capacitors.with multimeter and soder the faulty ones with the soldering iron. but as there are several components to check out.its bit too professional and techical/i suggest you to get it checked at local repair center.as it would not be too costly to get it repaired.because the faulty ic and capacitors are not very costly.as the local repair center have all the required spares to replace and check out.as its worth getting it fixed.

Hi

Try to check for the resistors placed near stk ICs . Check them when the Tv is turned off.

Replace the convergence ic's with STK392-040. If this does not fix the problem replace the sub deflection board.

Here is the board schematics :
