mine when i put in the battery it goes like to a gray-ish screen for a split second then turns back to a black screen i dont know what to do

  • Anonymous Mar 18, 2009

My screen went black often, then I could fix it by pressing on it and it'd stay on for a little bit, then go black again. I could deal with that, then I fell in a creek with it in my hand, and got it to dry out. The screen wouldn't even stay on for more than a couple seconds, with the pressing thing, then it crapped out entirely. The phone works, but the screen doesn't. No warranty, no insurance. Am I screwed, or is there hope?

Phone screen works then goes black

I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q.

What has happened is that the firmware of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer finish its boot sequence.

This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware.

The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.)

If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times.

My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone.

I hope that helps.

Dropped moto q in water, now screen is barely visable. Can this be fixed?

LCD displays use incredibly small currents and any contaminants can 'steal' enough of the signal to cause a faded appearance of the characters. Depending on how clean the water was, you may be able to dry out the remaining moisture by placing it in an area of very mild (no more than 100 degrees F) heat for several days. Open any compartments on the unit and remove the battery pack so warm air has the best chance of penetrating.

go to www.blackberry.com and download the desktop manager for your phone and service provider and reinstall the software. if it is an unlocked phone you need to navigate to the common files/rim and delete the vender file first.

Moto q want trun on

Try taking the batteries out ( fully disconnecting them from the gold contact points) ... then put them back in with the charger already plugged in. It should go to that blue charge screen instead of turning on. LEAVE IT ON THAT CHARGING SCREEN for at least 5-10 mins. Now, Hold down power, screen goes black... then tap power about 2 seconds after screen goes out, and it should start up as normal. If taking the battery out has no effect, I would investigate whether that (the battery... being dead/unchargeable) is the problem. I'm hoping one of the two answers gets ya where you need to go.

OH AND YOU CANNOT USE USB CHARGER TO DO THIS. IT HAS TO HAVE DIRECT FROM-THE-SOCKET POWER TO CHARGE UP THAT FIRST BIT OF COMPLETELY TAPPED CHEMICAL (ELECTRICAL) REACTIONS.

Alltel Motorola Q Won't turn on

Hi mine did the same thing yesterday and when i called technical support they said to take the phone to any retail store for a replacement as this is a known issue that they are having right now. we looked at 7 stores but no one had any so i called technical support back and the tech told me to take the battery out for 5 mins and then put it back in once it is in hold down the silver center button and just wait till the screen says MASTER RESET select reset and just wait till it finishs the process it will show windows mobile screen then go black, once it goes black TAP the power button it should work fine then but if you still have problems then you must take the phone and get it swapped out. hope this helps,,,,,,,,,,,HAPPY NEW YEAR,,,,,,,,,,,,

boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows.
