SOURCE: are replacement motors available for these fans?

mcdevito75 here, If the fan is not too old I would figure yes, but a replacement motor will cost as a new fan, if not more, then you have to install and the blades are a presss fit to the motor.

Any idea where I could get a replacement motor for a Lakewood model HV-18 fan? The motor is fried, sparks coming out when I turn it on.

Take the motor out and take to a local motors repair and rewinds shop. Drop it on the counter and say "can I have one of these please". It is just a motor, form size, voltage and speed.

Where can i get a lakewood fan motor for lakewood fan model number HV-18

you would have to go to a place that sells motors and get one by motor type, that than the appliance make and model. All electric motors are standard by size, voltage, speed and fixings.

did you take the out the old switch/ if not follow the colors to the switch and to the motor. you will find numbers on the switch, the wires coming off the motor go into the switch, if you have the light and the switch that run the temperature you can take that out and just run the wires direct to the switch and follow them up from the motor to your switch and like i said red wire, blue wire, white wire, orange wire, brown wire, yellow wire,2 black wires, you should have these wires coming off the motor and they go to the switch, the front of the switch has these number on front A in upper left and on the right side S 2 the bottom left side should have S 1 and the right side of the bottom should have B, you will need a small screwdriver to push the small metal plate that hold the wire in , just push light in the hold and the wire will come out, make a map of what wire go wear and you in a new fan.if you took it apart already then i have to tell what color go wear on the switch from the motor.

Reversed Direction

Get a replacement switch from the manufacture and wire it in properly. You have the windings mixed up from the motor.

Lakewood HV-18 fan... how to wire switch?

My switch unit also fell apart as I took the back off and I didn't get to see the correct position of the switch. After much trial and error, I found this to be the initial "Off" position (see photo)

Window Fan switch bad

Steve, Your fan model is HV-18-WR; I have 2 with the same problem. I can't find a source for DYE-3606 switches either. Here is one source for rotary switches; one might be suitable: http://www.alliedelec.com/Catalog/Indices/Products.asp?sid=46BBAA8076DBE17F&N=4294828748 I can draw a diagram of how the existing switch is connected, but I don't know how that would translate to a replacement switch.
