Can you please describe the problem with a little bit more detail? Are you saying that the pictures are coming up with a ghost effect? When the pictures are freezing what exactly do you mean, as in when changing inputs you can still see the picture there but gradually goes away?
I had issues start around 15 months - the unit would freeze up, or change channels spontaneously, or turn on and off at random. So far we've not any permanent solutions. The best we've got is to lock the control panel out (which didn't keep it from turning on and off) after which we tried resetting to factory defaults. I've emailed the company and am awaiting a reply.
Something like you describe sounds like a fuse issue or something else after the power supply.
I had 2 TVs replaced because of this problem with my Vizio 42". If you call them, they will ask you to do a "power down", to do so, you have to unplug the the TV and hold the power bottom for 1 min. then plug it back and try. But that didn't help in my case, so they sent me a reburb tv, an a month later had the same issue, every time I was using an imput other that the TV, the tv end up freezing and won't show any picture on any of the imputs at all including the cable with or without a cablebox.
did you check the control board on the back of the TV there might be a blown capacitor that could be replaced like on the polaroid ones found on this site. pretty clear info on that tutorial and could work on this one too
Sharp list no issues or service tips for this model but I am sure most freeze ups are and issue of weak cable signals or defective cable receivers. If this has truly been elimnated the main digital pcb in the TV could be issue or more likely the TV may need the latest software upgrade. This is most likely only able to be facilitated by a Sharp auth. service center.
