After I select launch in the free trend micro house call virus scan the screen is idle and I can not make any selections. I can not reload the software.

Several months back I had a virus that wiped out everything. We did a restore.

I do not recall being able to run this scan since then. If I did it would have been one time. I don't recall. I have tried over and over.

I went to the internet and selected try the new 6. version and it acts like it is going to install but then becomes idle.

Maybe I have the virus back? If so I'm not sure what direction to take.

Trend Micro Housecall goes idle before it starts... I see this problem on many computers at several locations... I think the webpage and/or program no longer work....

I can get to the scan part, then it says jre is not installed or enabled, which it is, and the active x version, stops on transferring information and gives the message that it cannot transfer information.

How do I get micro trend off my system w/o password

First thing I would do in your case is get a free program that will delete files and erase them completely. Click Here for that. Now I would go to control panel and go to add or remove programs if Windows 7 your using go to control panel select programs and features.
Find Micro Trend and remove it from your programs. If it will remove all the files then go to Windows Security Essentials. This is that easiest and free anti-virus software and I use it without a hitch. For those of us who do not like to spend or waste money on virus software that is over-inflated in price for one and you can get what you need works just as good and in some cases even better. Simple to install and does not cost a dime.
I find it amazing how these companies especially the average user gets burned buying anti-virus software when it is free to download. That is how to deal with that issue. When your finished uninstalling Micro Trend off of your computer a pop up will appear and say your computer is at risk you need to install antivirus software. That is when you know you got rid of it. Now Click Here to get the free stuff be sure to pick your Windows Operating System correctly 32 bit most likely will do you fine, that is the most common..........John

You might like to try a WEB based virus scan before you try a complete restore. :-

Trend Micro HouseCall
Many computer users rely on Trend Micro for their antivirus needs but when you’ve got a virus, sometimes your installed version won’t boot up, so the company’s got a free online scan that can be used by anyone in this situation, not just Trend Micro users. It’s called HouseCall and it’s a free virus scan that you can get right now... just go to When you get there, click on Launch HouseCall 6.5 (you have to have Java or ActiveX controls enabled)

Norton Security Scan
Norton Security Scan is the online free security scan offering from Symantec, makers of the popular Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security products. If you want to start using this one, first make sure you’re running Internet Explorer 5.0 or above, and then head over to and click Continue to Symantec Security Check:
